Adaptations of the stories of horror legend Stephen King have been popular for a long time, but the author’s works have been particularly popular lately. A trailer was released recently for the latest King adaptation, titled 1922, which is based on the novella of the same name.
An adaptation of King’s Gerald’s Game arrives on Netflix in just a few days from now, and a couple of weeks back the new adaptation of IT hit theaters and has done incredibly well for an R-rated release, recently passing Universal’s middle-finger to the original remake of The Mummy, which had the more box office-friendly PG-13 rating. Proof once again that an R-rating is not a risk. The risk is in who you pay to make the movie.
Continue below to check out the trailer for 1922.
Over at Amazon, the story is briefly described as:
In “1922,” a violence awakens inside a man when his wife proposes selling off the family homestead, setting in motion a grisly train of murder and madness.
The movie adaptation comes with this also brief description:
A simple yet proud rancher in the year 1922 conspires to murder his wife for financial gain, convincing his teenage son to participate.
The cast for the movie includes Thomas Jane (The Expanse, The Punisher), who’s no stranger to Stephen King adaptations having starred in both The Mist and Dreamcatcher. Also starring is Molly Parker (The Road, Deadwood), Dylan Schmid (Once Upon A Time, Horns), and Neal McDonough (Minority Report, Captain America: The First Avenger).
It’s written and directed by Zak Hilditch, who previously wrote and directed the post-apocalyptic thriller These Final Hours.
Like the aforementioned Gerald’s Game, 1922 is also coming to Netflix. The movie will arrive on the streaming service on October 20th.
