This morning, Warner Bros. dropped the latest, and final, trailer for their upcoming DC Films superhero team-up event Justice League, slated to be one of the biggest theatrical releases this holiday season.
You can watch the trailer here below.
The trailer opens up with Amy Adams‘ Lois Lane dreaming of her beloved Clark Kent (Henry Cavill), whose death the world has yet to move past as the villainous Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) and his massive horde of winged Parademons prepare an invasion. Only a union of the world’s greatest heroes, led by Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), has what it takes to halt this devastating threat from beyond the stars dead in its tracks.
Outside of that opening tease, this trailer doesn’t give us much of a glimpse of the Man of Steel, so I guess the studio and Joss Whedon (taking over as director of some costly reshoots for Zack Snyder, who had to leave the shoot for familial reasons) are holding back on the “Super” action until opening day. However, we do get to see plenty of the other Leaguers in action. Some of the footage has been seen before in previous trailers, but the new shots – including the one of Cyborg (Ray Fisher) catching Aquaman (Jason Momoa) in mid-air and carrying him back into battle – are priceless and help solidify the camaraderie between these unique individuals.
Despite what others have been saying, the trailers for Justice League have looked increasingly good and show much promise. Since there isn’t much new footage in this one, it’s not going to convince you to see the movie if the previous trailers didn’t do the trick. It’s a nice little Sunday morning surprise for those of us, myself included, who are definitely down for some epic live-action DC superhero fun.
Co-starring Ezra Miller (who naturally gets another funny one-liner), J.K. Simmons, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Connie Nielsen, Amber Heard, and Willem Dafoe, Justice League opens on November 17, 2017.
