“They’re teenagers. The last thing they’re interested in is what their parents are doing.” But what do you expect superpowered teenagers to do when their parents are up to no good? Best thing is to probably run away. And that’s what these kids will do in Marvel’s newest show Runaways. This latest series, which will air exclusively on Hulu, will see six teenagers with different powers, uniting to defeat a common foe: their parents.
We’ve seen a couple of photos from the show recently, but now the first trailer has dropped. Check it out here below.
Marvel’s Runaways asks the question, “Every teenager thinks their parents are evil, what if they actually are?” The series is based on the 2003 comic book series of the same name.
Runaways stars Rhenzy Feliz as Alex Wilder, a nerd who longs to reunite with his childhood friends; Lyrica Okano as Nico Minoru, a Wiccan who isolates herself with her gothic appearance and has magical powers via The Staff of One; Virginia Gardner as Karolina Dean, a model who is burdened by her privileged upbringing and wants to pursue her own desires and she can also manipulate solar rays; Ariela Barer as Gert Yorkes, riot grrrl and social justice warrior who has no physical powers but has a telepathic bond with Old Lace, a genetically engineered deinonychus (a dinosaur!); Gregg Sulkin as Chase Stein, a high school lacrosse player who is often dismissed as a dumb jock but displays bits of brilliance in engineering; and Allegra Acost as Molly Hernandez, the youngest member of the Runaways who is characterized by her positive attitude and enhanced superhuman strength.
Annie Wersching, Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Kevin Weisman, Brigid Brannah, James Yaegashi, Brittany Ishibashi, and Kip Pardue also star.
So far, Marvel TV shows have been a mixed bag of reactions. Broadcast shows have failed to live up to their expectations, but series that stream on Netflix have proven to be worth the watch, with the exception of Iron Fist and Defenders. So it should be interesting to see how well Runaways performs on Hulu.
Runaways debuts November 21, 2017 on Hulu.
