Heroes often say that they were just doing their job or what they’ve been trained to do. But that should not take away from the fact that what they did is truly extraordinary. Because no matter what they did or how many lives they saved, they were at the right place at the right time. That has been true many times, and it has also served as an inspiration for films. Like when three U.S. soldiers aboard a train to Paris risked their lives to stop a terrorist from killing passengers.

Now their selfless act will be retold by Clint Eastwood in The 15:17 to Paris. Check out the first trailer for the film below.

The trailer promises that the life-changing story will be told by those who actually lived it. So if you don’t recognize any of the three U.S. soldiers saving the day, at first glance, it’s because that’s how Eastwood intended the film to be seen. With the real-life soldiers, Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, and Spencer Stone telling the story from their point of view. This, of course, gives us a more authentic story. No doubt, they had some valuable input on how the story should be told.

But it will not just be about that one moment in time, but rather, a culmination of moments peering into their past and their friendships leading up to the day of the prevented attack. The prevented attack happened over two years ago, when three Americans from U.S. National Guard and the Air Force foiled an ISIS attack. Their heroism resulted in saving over a hundred lives.

The idea of using the real people instead of actors in a film is not a strange concept. In fact, it has been done before, especially in military films. By doing this we get a more organic story that feels true.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

In the early evening of August 21, 2015, the world watched in stunned silence as the media reported a thwarted terrorist attack on Thalys train #9364 bound for Paris””an attempt prevented by three courageous young Americans traveling through Europe. The film follows the course of the friends’ lives, from the struggles of childhood through finding their footing in life, to the series of unlikely events leading up to the attack. Throughout the harrowing ordeal, their friendship never wavers, making it their greatest weapon and allowing them to save the lives of the more than 500 passengers on board.

The film also stars Jenna Fischer, Judy Greer, Ray Corasani, Tony Hale, and Thomas Lennon.

The 15:17 to Paris opens in theaters on February 9, 2018.
