Solo: A Star Wars Story

It’s perfectly understandable if some Star Wars fans have been expressing some form of frustration over the lack of marketing for Solo: A Star Wars Story. But today is the day Disney can help ease some of that frustration.

While it may not be a trailer or an actual still from the film, we do have an official plot synopsis that gives us a look at the upcoming spinoff. Check it out below.

Per the official Star Wars website, here is the official plot synopsis for Solo: A Star Wars Story:

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

This is the typical synopsis fodder that is given for a Star Wars film. It’s just the bare bones plot details for the film. And while it is nothing to get too excited over, it does tell us that this film is happening one way or another. Still, the film will address the criminal underworld and how Solo got his start as one of the galaxy’s most notorious stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder.

For one thing, the lack of marketing can be contributed to the fact that Disney has just released Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And despite the displeasure some people have had with it, the film still broke quite a few box office records. Heck, the studio was confident enough to give Rian Johnson an entire new Star Wars trilogy to work with. But getting back on topic, with The Last Jedi opening back in December, and Solo opening this May, Disney did not want to confuse audiences with the two very different Star Wars films.

Another thing to remember, is that this isn’t the first major film to see its first trailer be released so close to the release date. Logan‘s first trailer dropped only five months before its release, with the second hitting two months before. It became a worldwide hit and a possible awards contender.

Finally, this is Star Wars we are talking about. Not only that, but it is based on some of the franchise’s most popular characters: Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando. And some might be interested in seeing how much of the behind-the-scenes problems played a factor into the making of the film.

Directed by Ron Howard, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, and Paul Bettany.
