Each and every week, I, “Fullmetal Alchemist” Henchman21, and “Heavy Metal Alchemist” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of August 7, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here. It’s another one of those weeks where a lot of my favorite series have new issues, but we also get a few new series to sink our teeth into. And sadly we see the end of a series that just couldn’t find its audience. We’ve got all that plus so much more, so let’s not waste anymore time as we get ready for another edition of The GoD List!

Each and every week, I, “I’m Tired” Henchman21, and “I’m Sick” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of July 31, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here. Well, we’re all caught up from a busy week at SDCC, which is why we missed the list last week. And as much as you missed us, we missed you, oh humble reader, twice as much. But it’s another week and it’s time to get back to it, so here we are with a mighty stack of books for you. It’s a month with five Wednesdays, which means it’s a bit of an odd week, with DC dropping five annuals (Animal Man, Batman, Detective Comics, Flash, and Superman) as well as a Director’s Cut for the first issue of Batman Year Zero. On the other hand, Marvel is just dropping a standard set of books, with plenty of good series getting new issues, including their best series, Daredevil. And then we get the odd mix from everyone else, which I will dive more into shortly. Oh, and then Batman Inc #13 brings Grant Morrison’s 7-year relationship with Batman to a close. So there’s that. And the end of Batman Inc means we get a special appearance by Mr. MK2Fac3! We’ve got that and much more in another amazing edition of The GoD List!

The Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday was, as expected, full of surprises and treats for the fans in Hall H. Along with the planned panel for Thor: The Lost World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (both of which showed off new footage), there was also an appearance of the cast for Guardians Of The Galaxy and the very first footage of the upcoming movie. But, at the very end of Marvel’s panel, as the stage emptied, director Joss Whedon, who’s currently working on the sequel to The Avengers, came out and said that although he had nothing to say, he did have something to add. Cue the screams of tired but eager fans as the lights went down and the screens lit up to show a teaser video for The Avengers 2, the end of which gave a massive reveal.

What surprise did Marvel have in store for the fans who waited all day in Hall H on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con? How about the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as the first footage from the movie? Marvel executive Kevin Feige was happy to bring up the already announced castmembers: Michael Rooker, Karen Gillen, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Benicio Del Toro, David Bautista, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Pratt. Director James Gunn was also there to introduce them to the crowd. The film has been in production for roughly two weeks, and the crew came straight from London just for the panel and were flying back to London that night.
