Annihilator #1 from Legendary Comics is one of those rare books in the last few years written by Grant Morrison that is not set in the DC Universe. There have been a few series from him, but by and large, if you’ve wanted to read something by Morrison, it has involved DC characters. Annihilator gives Morrison a chance to step out and work on something of his own. It also gives Morrison the chance to work with a frequent collaborator, Frazer Irving, which has led to some great comic books in the past.

| Watch Now: Grant Morrison Discusses ‘Annihilator’
If you’ve ever read anything by Grant Morrison before you know that his comics can be the very definition of high concept, which is very much the case with his new series from Legendary Comics, Annihilator. In the six issue mini-series drawn by Frazer Irving, Hollywood screenwriter Ray Spass is down on his luck until he is recruited by one of his fictional creations to help save the universe from imploding. It’s as close to your standard Grant Morrison plot as you can get. Combine Morrison’s writing with Irving’s art and you get a hell of a package. If you want a little more info on this series, you can watch a clip of Morrison talking about the series’ origin as well as giving a good explanation of the plot below.

| Exclusive: Covers For Boom! Studios’ ‘Higher Earth #7’ |
 |

Boom! Studios has given us the exclusive on four covers for the upcoming Higher Earth #7 by two amazing artists, Garry Brown and Frazer Irving. These four dynamic covers look to be a Cover A/Cover B sort of situation, but with a variant of each. The two full-color covers appear to be the main ones, while a black and white/gray tone variant of each is provided, one digital by Irving, and a heavily inked version by Garry Brown. I really look forward to seeing this comic on shelves, and if the covers are any indication on the interior art by Francesco Biagini and quality of the writing from Sam Humphries, I’m sure we’re all going to love it. In fact, based on the solicitation, it sounds like something I’d like to check out: After the cataclysmic events of the last issue, Heidi seeks out an unlikely ally, one with an even greater stake in the matters at hand. But is this new ally friend or foe? And what connection do they have to the highest earth of all? It’s up to Heidi to keep one step ahead of the Queen’s forces as she struggles to keep everyone she’s ever held dear safe, and more importantly, alive…
Anyway, enough talk, let’s get down to some incredible artwork that’s debuting here!
