Each and every week, I, “The Famous Cock” Henchman21, and “The Mermaid” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of August 28, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here. Since we took last week off, we’re here to drop an extra-sized version of the list this time. Sadly, the list contains one series that is nearly ending, and one series that is going to be significantly changing due to a switch in the creative team. But never fear, we’ve got plenty of other brilliant series to point you towards, including one issue that is a great starting point for one of my favorite titles. So, no time to sleep around, it’s time to wake up to The GoD List!

| DC Introduces The ‘Real’ Lobo Into The New 52 |

There are many characters in the DC Universe that have a small but loyal fanbase, with the galactic bounty hunter Lobo being one of the most popular. Since his creation by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen in the pages of Omega Men back in 1983, Lobo has gone through a number of different iterations, largely remaining a comedic foil for other heroes to fight or occasionally team up with. Lobo has already been introduced once into DC’s revamped New 52 continuity in the pages of Deathstroke, but it turns out that was not the bastich that fans know and love. According to DC comics, the “real” Lobo will make his introduction in the pages of Justice League 23.2: Lobo (a one-shot scheduled for release on September 11, 2013). DC is making a big deal about the reintroduction; not only are they bringing the Main Man back, but they are also giving him a whole new look, courtesy of artist Kenneth Rocafort. The new look is quite a departure, making him younger and leaner than he has been in the past. Check out the new Lobo image here below, along with three other proposed designs that didn’t make the cut.

Each and every week, I, “The Hunter” Henchman21, and “The Score” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of August 14, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here. Who doesn’t love a big crossover? Well, lots of people I guess, but just because some comic events don’t live up to the hype, it doesn’t stop us from buying them for whatever reason, which is good news for Marvel Comics as they launch yet another big old hootenanny of a comic. But, if you don’t like you comics on a big scale, there’s plenty else out there for you this week, including another Marvel series that doesn’t have time for your fancy crossover. Oh, and I guess there’s a new issue of Brian K. Vaughan’s Saga. But you’re probably buying that anyway. And Gail Simone’s next installment of Red Sonja. So, let’s shoot for the stars in an absolutely cosmic edition of The GoD List!

There was no way I was going to pass up the chance to review a book called Henchmen. I mean, come on, this is a book that was tailor made for me to enjoy. And enjoy it I did. Henchmen was a pleasant surprise to me. I assumed that this would be a series with a fair bit of humor and that’s exactly what I got. Henchman follows the adventures of Gary, a down on his luck middle-aged man going through a divorce and just trying to get by. When he loses his job, he does what so many of us dream we could, turn to organized villainy. He hooks up with a bowling-themed villain and eventually becomes not only a henchman, but an innovator to the profession of henching.
