| NYCC 2014: Surprise Sneak Peek: The Flash 1.2 “Fastest Man Alive” |

Fans at New York Comic-Con on Thursday night got a big surprise at the WB panel at the yearly screening deemed “tradition.” Expecting only to see the pilot episode of Constantine and the Season 2 premiere of The 100, the audience was treated to Episode 2 of The Flash, not set to air until Tuesday, October 14th, 8pm ET on The CW. Last Tuesday’s “City of Heroes” found Central City lab tech Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) waking up from a nine-month coma with strange powers of speed and a crew of scientists (and an engineer) to help him deal with it. Living and working with father-figure Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) and his daughter Iris (Candice Patton), since his mother’s murder and his father’s wrongful incarceration (Barry believes), Barry vows to find the truth. This episode includes a villain able to control the weather (therefore Barry was not the only one affected during the S.T.A.R. Labs explosion that caused his coma and created his powers). There is also a cameo by Arrow (Stephen Amell).

| NYCC 2014: Disney’s ‘Big Hero 6’ Panel
Moderator Chris Hardwick introduced the panel for Disney’s upcoming Big Hero 6, their first animated feature based on Marvel Comics characters. First up were directors Chris Williams and Don Hall, as well as producer Roy Conli. They started working on it and pitched it three years ago, right around the time of New York Comic-Con. A clip is then shown. Set in San Fransokyo, a slightly futuristic city with a real feel to it, we find young genius Hiro not using his gifts in good ways. His brother, Tadashi, hoping to set him on a better path, lures him to his university lab. “Welcome to the Nerd Lab.” It is there that he is introduced to Baymax, a robotic healthcare companion (kinda resembles the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man), and the other nerds: Honey Lemon, Go-Go, Wasabi (“I spilled Wasabi on my shirt one time people!”), and Fred (who’s not really a student there, just a part-time mascot who thinks science is cool).
