Daniel Radcliffe in The Woman in Black

Now that the Harry Potter movies are over and done with, it’s time to see if Daniel Radcliffe has the chops to carry a movie without the help of Emma Watson and that creepy ginger kid. The industrious Hogwarts grad will be seen early next year in the atmospheric supernatural thriller The Woman in Black and today we have a sneak peek at the new film you can watch here below.

We all know how bad movies based on games tend to be (and vice versa), but there are some games out there that, if done correctly, could make some pretty fantastic movies.

One of the big ones that jumps to mind is the Mass Effect trilogy. One of the biggest game series to-date, the BioWare property takes the action–RPG to incredible places, making for an intense and compelling story and a truly must–play experience for any gamer out there.

A Mass Effect movie has been whispered about for a while now, dating back to around when Mass Effect 2 was being released where Casey Hudson was quoted saying “Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about Mass Effect. The most important thing for us is, we don’t just want to see a movie get made. We want to see a great movie get made, if it’s going to get done at all.” That was followed by the news that Legendary Pictures had secured the rights to turn the game into a movie, but that was the last we heard about it…until now.

A movie adaptation of Preacher has been talked about for so long that it’s rarely worth even bothering with news like this, but fans of the comic still hold on to hope that some day a faithful adaptation will find its way to the screen…or at least they did, until today that is.

According to director D.J. Caruso via his own Twitter account, he’s officially closed a deal to take on Preacher, making him the latest in a line of names attached to the movie at one point or another. Caruso is of course best known for his work on action/thrillers like Disturbia, Eagle Eye, and the new movie, I Am Number Four.

Warner Brothers Hoping To Develop Movie Adaptation Of ‘Bleach’

Bleach

Warner Brothers is already in the business of adapting Japanese manga into live-action feature films having acquired the rights to Katsuhiro Otomo’s cherished Akira, and possibly even hiring the Hughes Brothers to direct (Read: The Hughes Brothers To Direct Two-Part Live-Action “˜Akira’ Movie). But the studio isn’t stopping there; it’s being reported that WB is currently working to obtain the rights to Bleach.

The manga, which is written and illustrated by Tite Kubo, revolves around a teenage boy named Ichigo Kurosaki who can see ghosts and one day accidentally obtains the abilities of a Soul Reaper (the Japanese personification of death, much like the Grim Reaper). With these new found abilities — similar to our own superhero stories — he must learn how to use them, protect the innocent from evil spirits known as Hollows, and guide spirits safely to the other side.

The Decade List: The 59 Best Films Of The Past Ten Years – Chapter IV

The Decade List: The 59 Best Films Of The Past Ten Years – Chapter IVNOTE: For structural reasons and to ensure that this list is super-duper pretty at all times, we’ll be posting this same intro for all sections of The Decade List. If you’ve already read all of this, you can just head down to the continuation of our list!

Let’s just get it out of the way right off the ol’ bat: yes, we know it’s been a few months since we left the decade. Most folks undertook this heavy task pre-2010, but we decided that it would be a little bit better to let the new year settle in a bit before hitting you with something of this magnitude.

So here we are, geeks: we’ve officially arrived in FUTURE *cue retro ’50s sci-fi music* and still we have no freakin’ flying cars yet. What’s the deal with that? While it is pretty exciting to be inside of the year 2010 — a year that always seemed unreachable to us mere mortals — we are also exiting another entire decade that leaves us staring at one majorly epic task. That task? To search, dig, locate, retrieve, organize, polish, and present the very best films of the past ten years!

We must once again declare that this list is also simply opinion. You are are without doubt going to find movies here that you hate and do not think deserve to be included. You will surely think of movies that you think should not only be on here, but that should be at the very top of the list. There will even be some that I have not seen and thus, can not add. Even at this very moment, I sit, worrying and wondering if I’ve forgotten any that I would include; that’s just the way things fly when compiling something this massive.

With all of that said, we invite you in to relax and check out Chapter IV our list, The Decade List: The 59 Best Films of the Past Ten Years!
