NYCC 2018 Walking-Dead-13

The Walking Dead Panel closed out New York Comic-Con Saturday night at the Hulu Theater at MSG, and it was bittersweet, as it was Andrew Lincoln‘s last one as Rick Grimes, as this is his last season as the popular character. Chris Hardwick (The Talking Dead) moderated, and after a bunch of amazing trailers and The Walking Dead commercials, he introduced the dazzling cast and crew: new showrunner Angela Kang, Scott Gimple, co-creator Robert Kirkman, producer Dave Alpert, executive producer Gale Ann Hurd, producer and director Greg Nicotero, stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Melissa McBride (Carol), Danai Gurira (Michonne), and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan).

Andrew Lincoln is leaving The Walking Dead. Reports say that the upcoming ninth season will be the actor’s last as Rick Grimes, the sheriff that has been struggling to survive the zombie apocalypse on AMC’s hit television series.

But as one man exits the show, another is extending his stay. Those same reports say co-star Norman Reedus will likely stay on. He is currently in talks for a $20 million deal. More on the story below.

Warning – SPOILERS for AMC’s The Walking Dead…

The first part of Season 7 of The Walking Dead was a tough one to get through, as it began with the brutal death of two main characters, including one who was extremely popular with fans. All of this was at the hands of the new bad guy in town, Negan, who proved in eight episodes that he was bigger and badder than any other villain that Rick and the gang have come up against before. Week after week, we watched as Rick yielded to Negan’s sadistic will and his group at Alexandria became subjugated to The Saviors.

The 90-minute mid-season 7 finale, Episode 7.8 “Hearts Still Beating,” which aired back in December, finally brought us hope that Rick and his crew might be able to rise above once more. Daryl escaped his dark cell at Negan’s Sanctuary compound, and he and Jesus make it to the Hilltop Colony, where Maggie, Sasha and Enid were holed up. At the episode’s end, we see the aforementioned characters greet Rick and his crew — Tara, Michonne, Rosita, and Carl — who have arrived to make a plan to stop Negan, which will include a possible team-up with King Ezekiel and The Kingdom, and perhaps even with the women of the Oceanside colony.

Warning – SPOILERS for AMC’s The Walking Dead…

Last week’s episode of The Walking Dead was mainly about Tara and her altercation with the women of Oceanside, who had gone into hiding after their men were all killed by Negan. We also saw Rick and Aaron heading out of Alexandria to scavenge for Negan, but it seemed that Michonne wasn’t exactly on board with it all. Meanwhile, Carl and Enid travelled to the Hilltop Colony, so Enid could visit with Maggie, but Carl then went his own way… stowing away in a truck that was headed to Negan’s Sanctuary. Hilltop’s Jesus also showed up on the cargo truck with similar intentions.

This week, on Episode 7.7 “Sing Me A Song,” we find out what happened when the cargo truck arrives back at the Sanctuary; what’s going on with Rick and Aaron on their desperate scavenge; where Michonne is going; how Spence really feels and what he’s actually capable of; and what Rosita and Eugene are up to. Oh, and lots more Negan stuff.
