CAST: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Michael Douglas, Michael Peña, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.†Harris, David Dastmalchian, Bobby Cannavale
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment
RELEASE DATE: December 8, 2015
Marvel’s Ant-Man takes a comedic page from its Marvel Cinematic Universe counterpart Guardians Of The Galaxy, and delivers a superhero story that’s appealing to all audiences, even those not interested in capes and cowls.
Paul Rudd stars as Scott Lang, a master thief who’s just finished a three-year stint in San Quentin prison. While his crime was more of the Robin Hood variety, his criminal record is making it very difficult for him to keep a job and make ends meet on the straight and narrow path. Motivated by his desire to be there for his young daughter’s life, Scott joins forces with former prison buddy Luis (Michael Peña) and his crew (Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian) for a sure-thing burglary job. Unbeknownst to Scott, the safe he’s cracking belongs to Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), the S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist who developed the shrinking technology that powers the Ant-Man suit.

Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ Begins Production; Judy Greer, T.I., Bobby Cannavale & More Added To Cast

Filming on Ant-Man began today in San Francisco, CA, and will later head to Atlanta, GA, which will serve as the base for the film’s production, according to Marvel, who announced the news this morning.
Last week, we reported on a rumor that some of the cameos we would see in Ant-Man would have some pretty big connections. Stark seems to be at the center of those connections, with Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, and Arnim Zola also being involved. Based on that, we can speculate that Hank Pym would be a member of the group that helped create S.H.I.E.L.D.
Marvel’s announcement today confirms that cast has grown quite a bit. Judy Greer, T.I., Bobby Cannavale, and John Slattery have all joined the film. We can also confirm that Michael Pena is going to be in Ant-Man. Hit the jump for more.

Movie Review: Win Win

Win Win
Directed by Tom McCarthy
Starring: Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan, Bobby Cannavale, Jeffrey Tambor, Burt Young, Melanie Lynskey, Alex Shaffer
Release: March 18, 2011
Reciprocity is what we find in all of director Tom McCarthy’s films and very rarely found in others’ films. He is a filmmaker who recognizes and spotlights individuals who are of two molds: caretakers and people who need taken care of. What defines a film by McCarthy, though, is his ability to make a character both caretaker and one who needs to be taken care of. His two previous films, The Station Agent and The Visitor, displayed individuals who were emotionally destroyed and in shameful situations. But yet there still remained in them a spark of life that has the ability to make the necessary preparations for getting themselves and others whose lives have been stifling out of a grievous situation. Win Win is no different. The film doesn’t see the human spirit as triumphant, and while that may sound bleak it is the foundation in which McCarthy constructs his films on. He evaluates his characters in a burdensome state only to find in them qualities that may allow them to rise against adversity.
Win Win, a comedy-drama that takes into consideration the fragility of the human spirit, is a small film with, sad to say, small ambitions. It plays it safe with the material it has while room for expansion is evident and much encouraged. McCarthy doesn’t magnify his material but rather keeps it subdued while we want more emotion, especially when we have actors capable of exploiting their internal and external frustrations.
