As the title may suggest, Captain America: Civil War will be an adaptation of the Marvel comic book story arc of the same name that pits its title character against Iron Man, a friend and ally, over differing ideals of how The Avengers should be governed. Such an event would require more than just the amount of characters you would see in these solo films. This is an ensemble event, and as such you would need to bring major characters from previous films to go into battle amongst one another.

But you’ll also have to introduce some new characters, and Civil War does just that by adding Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), and a mysterious character to be played by Martin Freeman. There were a few rumors surrounding Freeman’s character, one of the most notable ones being that he is a U.S. representative for the fictional African nation of Wakanda, where T’Challa aka Black Panther hails from. This has been confirmed in a brand new report. There are also a few new images to look at which feature Frank Grillo in full-on heavy Crossbones gear, Iron Man and Captain America looking into each other’s eyes, and Scarlet Witch conjuring some chaos magic. Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice isn’t the only superhero comic book film featuring a story of two heroes on opposing sides. Captain America: Civil War is the third entry in the Captain America film franchise that will be an adaptation of the hugely popular story arc featured in Marvel Comics.

We’ve been covering the film for the past few months eagerly waiting to see more from it, including who the villain is and our first look at Spider-Man (Tom Holland). Of course with new trailers and TV spots, especially one of this size airing during today’s Super Bowl, there’s going to be plenty of new footage everyone will be talking about.

Regardless of how movie marketing campaigns evolve to keep up with the changing times, trailers will always be one of the most crucial tools in the selling of a new film. A typical trailer for a major studio’s potential blockbuster and franchise hopeful tends to look the same as another of its type, from the editing beats to the choice of overdramatic music cues (not to mention that annoying and loud horn sound that can be traced back to Inception‘s brilliantly executed previews).

Naturally this opens the door for aspiring filmmakers and people with both a strong sense and access to pretty decent cameras and recording equipment to create their own improvised spoofs of those occasionally overbearing trailers. Putting their friends and relatives in front of the camera and using whatever materials available to them to recreate the multi-million dollar visual effects, the makers of these “sweded” trailers often end up with something far more entertaining than their inspirations.

I have taken it upon myself to scour YouTube for the funniest, most bizarre, and flat-out fun spoof trailers for the biggest blockbusters (and in one special case, a gigantic bomb), and as a special bonus I’ve included a few for some of 2016’s most anticipated movies. Following a strong 2015 slate, The Walt Disney Studios continues its eclectic lineup of original productions, branding via Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and Disney, and a few remakes. 2016 should once again demonstrate Disney’s prominence in the film business, though Universal is experiencing a creative and critical resurgence to some degree. What Disney holds in its favor is consistency (in quality, generally) and accessibility (familiarity with properties). Consumers know (almost) precisely what they receive in buying a ticket to a Disney movie – even if Disney now has its hands in Lucasfilm and Marvel films.

As its title suggests Captain America: Civil War will center on the infighting between two of the greatest Avengers: Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). It will still be a film that focuses mainly on its titular hero, while also marking the first time that a hero like Iron Man will appear in a role bigger than a cameo. With the world recovering from the events of Ultron’s attack on the Earth, Sokovia Accords was created in order to regulate the deployment of enhanced individuals, particularly the Avengers, orchestrated by world governments.

We saw a little bit of that in action in the first trailer for the film, and now a new featurette that can be seen in the Phase 2 Box Set helps explain how it all led up to Civil War in greater detail, and how the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newest hero will play the role of the “monarch.” Check it out below.
