| Colin Farrell Confirmed For ‘Total Recall’ Remake; Will Not Be In 3D
While speaking to Collider recently during a press day for The Green Hornet at the Sony Pictures lot, producer Neal Moritz shared a significant confirmation on another of his projects: Total Recall. Though called a remake of sorts with the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie of the same name being so popular, this new movie is more of a second adaptation of Philip K. Dick‘s short novel, We Can Remember It for You Wholesale. But who would play the lead role Arnie once played? Well, according to Moritz, the actor they’ve secured is Colin Farrell. This fits with a subtle-yet-interesting trend of casting much smaller gentlemen in roles Schwarzenegger once played. It also makes plenty of sense — no point in getting your actor compared to the former bodybuilder when you can go in an entirely different direction.

| Colin Farrell & Toni Collette Join Anton Yelchin In ‘Fright Night’ Remake
DreamWorks is currently developing a remake of the 1985 horror film, Fright Night, and a pretty impressive cast has now been formed. Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Terminator Salvation) was already a member of the cast, and now he is joined by Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense, The United States of Tara) and Colin Farrell (In Bruges, Miami Vice). The movie follows a horror movie fanatic named Charlie who suspects that his new neighbor is actually a vampire. Obviously no one would possibly believe these suspicions, so Charlie has to go to the host of his favorite late-night horror TV show, Fright Night, Peter Vincent.

| The Decade List: The 59 Best Films Of The Past Ten Years – The Final Chapter |
 |
NOTE: For structural reasons and to ensure that this list is super-duper pretty at all times, we’ll be posting this same intro for all sections of The Decade List. If you’ve already read all of this, you can just head down to the continuation of our list!
Let’s just get it out of the way right off the ol’ bat: yes, we know it’s been a few months since we left the decade. Most folks undertook this heavy task pre-2010, but we decided that it would be a little bit better to let the new year settle in a bit before hitting you with something of this magnitude. So here we are, geeks: we’ve officially arrived in FUTURE *cue retro ’50s sci-fi music* and still we have no freakin’ flying cars yet. What’s the deal with that? While it is pretty exciting to be inside of the year 2010 — a year that always seemed unreachable to us mere mortals — we are also exiting another entire decade that leaves us staring at one majorly epic task. That task? To search, dig, locate, retrieve, organize, polish, and present the very best films of the past ten years! We must once again declare that this list is also simply opinion. You are are without doubt going to find movies here that you hate and do not think deserve to be included. You will surely think of movies that you think should not only be on here, but that should be at the very top of the list. There will even be some that I have not seen and thus, can not add. Even at this very moment, I sit, worrying and wondering if I’ve forgotten any that I would include; that’s just the way things fly when compiling something this massive. With all of that said, we invite you in to relax and check out our Final Chapter of The Decade List: The 59 Best Films of the Past Ten Years!

| Check That: Summit Stays Faithful To ‘Twilight;’ Won’t Use Vampires In ‘Vlad’ |
 |

Recently it was reported that Summit Entertainment was making a new movie based on the original Dracula called Vlad, and we all rejoiced as we might see the studio bring us some real vampires instead of the ones that we’ve seen in The Twilight Saga. Apparently, this was a tad premature, and we’ve now discovered that the movie will not be about Dracula or vampires at all; it will simply be about the man himself, Vlad the Impaler, in all of his historical glory. Entertainment Weekly was able to have a chit chat with actor Charlie Hunnam, who wrote the script for Vlad. The Sons of Anarchy and Green Street Hooligans star talked about how much work he put into the concept, how he wants to see it turn out, and what it’s actually about. The thing that really stands out is how fascinated Hunnam is with the history of Vlad the Impaler. While filming Cold Mountain in 2003, the actor traveled Romania and was swept away in the history and the myths that formed from the man. This is when he decided to work on the script, researching every little vital bit of information he could find. In fact, while shopping the script, his one “non-negotiable” in the deal was that vampirism not be included at all; no, this movie was to be about who the man really was and what he was about…even within savage acts he committed.

| A Peek At ‘The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus’ If there was a trailer before the teaser trailer, this would be what it looked like.
In what seems like more of a sales-pitch for the currently available-for-purchase film, a small behind-the-scenes video has been released with director Terry Gilliam chatting about The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the last film that Heath Ledger ever appeared in. Check out the ultra-teaser below; click the image above to get a bigger peek at some of the set. In the clip, we see a lot of footage of Gilliam’s older, more visually stunning projects like Time Bandits, 12 Monkeys, and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (among others) to give a feel of what we can hope to expect with Parnassus. Mixed in with all of this footage, we also are treated to some concept art, small clips, and images from The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, including various cast members, Ledger among them.
