| ‘Pet Sematary’ & ‘It’ Remake Writer Dave Kajganich To Pen New ‘Creature From The Black Lagoon’
Universal has no problem rebooting their classic monster movie properties every now and again. Not too long ago they remade the great 1941 Lon Chaney classic The Wolf Man, and recent reports have indicated that new versions of Frankenstein (being developed by Guillermo del Toro) and The Mummy (currently set to be directed by Len Wiseman) aren’t too far off. Another property Universal has been trying to remake for a couple of decades now with little luck, is 1954’s Creature from the Black Lagoon. Now it appears that they’re ready to give it another go with the announcement that they’ve found a writer for the remake. It’s being reported that Dave Kajganich has been hired to pen the screenplay, and that he’ll be starting from scratch.

| ‘Twas Only A Matter Of Time: Paramount To Remake ‘The Monster Squad’
Deadline Hollywood is reporting something that many have expected for a long while now, but it is no less painful to read. That’s right, Paramount Pictures has decided to remake the 1987 childhood classic, The Monster Squad. If the project does indeed happen, Rob Cohen, who was a producer and executive producer on the original movie, already has high hopes to direct the remake. Considering that he’s emotionally attached to the old movie, you would think that he would be an ideal candidate to create a faithful reproduction here, but this might not be the case. Cohen does have plenty of directing experience since then, but with his credits including Dragonheart, The Skulls, The Fast and the Furious, xXx, Stealth, and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, most Monster Squad die hards will shudder in fear at the thought.
