Last week on Gotham, The Mad Hatter (Benedict Samuel) came to town looking for his sister, Alice (Naian Gonzalez Norvind), and to kill a few people (him, not her… okay, maybe her too a litte). He hypnotized a few people for sport, but really laid a whammy on Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie), causing him to want to kill himself. Alice saved him. Bruce and Alfred (David Mazouz and Sean Pertwee) got to know “5” a bit – he’s super strong and cannot feel pain. He also harbors the same Selina (Camren Bicondova) crush, so he gave himself a haircut and went to her, after Bruce made her sad. Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) decided to run for mayor and freed Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) from Arkham. Lee (Morena Baccharin) returned to the GCPD.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for tonight’s episode.

Last week on Gotham, Selina (Camren Bicondova) was stuck inside Arkham at Bruce’s behest and Firefly’s mercy. Bruce, Lucius Fox, and a hidden Jim Gordon (David Mazouz, Chris Chalk, and Ben McKenzie), descend up the facility to rescue Selina and get answers, but they are all caught. Dr. Strange (BD Wong) is onto him, yet cares for Bruce in a way. Strange’s newest resurrection, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith) discovers her powers of persuasion via touch. A new monster is created and set free – one with a plastic face made up to look like Jim. Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) helps Strange.

Last week on Gotham, Jim (Ben McKenzie) was legally cleared from suspicion for the murder of Theo Galavan (James Frain), but not in the minds of Barnes and Dent (Michael Chiklis and Nicholas D’Agosto). Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) was caught and thrown in Arkham, (but didn’t give up Jim), and met Dr. Hugo Strange (BD Wong), whose very voice seems to make people do things to themselves and go crazier. We met Victor and Nora Fries (Guest stars Nathan Darrow and Kristen Hager), the latter dying of an incurable ailment, her husband desperate to save her. He was trying to perfect a cryogenic method to freeze her to stop the progression of the disease, but kept getting snagged on the unfreezing part. After freezing a bunch of people, they found his lair, bringing Nora in. Just as Victor was about to turn himself in, one of his dead came back to life, renewing his purpose.

Last week on Once Upon A Time, we meet the original Dark One, Nimue, true love of Merlin (Elliot Knight). Unfortunately, he created that monster. Having drunk from the Holy Grail, he was infused with power and immortality. He and Nimue fell in love, and he wanted to give it all up for her. She was having none of that, wanting the power to avenge her village. In the end, in present-day Storybrooke, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) is successful at repairing Excalibur. Zelena (Rebecca Mader) pretends to help, but then joins Arthur’s (Liam Garrigan) crazy team. She is able to make the other half of Excalibur a sword that can command Merlin. Uh-oh.

Last week on Gotham, Alfred (Sean Pertwee) freaks out and smashes the batcave electronics, in an attempt to keep Bruce (David Mazouz) safe. Bruce fires him, but relents in a tearful (for me) way. To make it up to him, Alfred seeks out Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) for help. That was the normal part of the episode. The crazy bananas part started with the Maniax tossing people off a building to announce their arrival. Then they tried to barbecue some cheerleaders, but Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) saved the girls. The bloody icing on the death cake is what happened to the GCPD. Barbara (Erin Richards) lured Jim from the station. That’s when Jerome (Cameron Monoghan) et al., shot up the precinct, and killed Essen. Dr. Thompkins survived, and Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) threw himself on top of Ms. Kringle. She’s definitely gonna like him now. I hope she can hold his split personality at bay. I love him.
