| Words That Will Infuriate You: ‘Jaws’ To Be Remade In 3D? |
 |

We say it often here, and we’ll say it again: most rumors aren’t worth even reading, let alone covering. But when a rumor has any kind of a backing or a solid inside source, and when it involves something one simply can’t ignore, then we shall bring it to your eyes. Cinema Blend has word from a source that they have at Universal Pictures that the studio is “strongly” considering the possibility of remaking Steven Spielberg‘s classic 1975 Great White shark movie, Jaws, and bathing it in 3D for today’s audiences. The logic here is that everything is in 3D these days, and everything is being remade, so the smartest way for them to make a ton of money is to remake their classics with modern technologies. The same source even said that Universal was looking at actors like Tracy Morgan for the role of Hooper, once played by Richard Dreyfus. If the very whisper of that paragraph doesn’t lead you break at least one thing in your general vicinity, than I would question your mental status as a movie fan.

| Hollywood Salivates At The Thought Of ‘Mass Effect’ Movie
We all know the words to the song: movies that are based on video games and video games that are based on movies are almost always terrible. It’s just how things are. Even though the chances are rare, we still get excited about the prospect of our favorite titles being made into games and movie — the thought of playing in a world we love or watching a world we’ve played in be brought to life is just too irresistible — and so we will always hope for those few and far between times that the adaptation will work beautifully. One fantastic sign for a fan is when the makers of their favorite game or movie are open to the possibilities, but also very adamant about the effort being put in to make something great. This is the way things are when it comes to BioWare’s brilliant Mass Effect franchise.

| The 3D Epidemic: When Does The Novelty Become The Standard & Is This What We Want? |
 |
Recently, The Wrap did a story on the new 3D technology and the vice-grip hold it has on the world of Hollywood. As we are all very much aware, it feels like every single movie that’s made these days is released in 3D, and in a lot of cases, we find ourselves asking the question “Why?” over and over again. In this new article, it is revealed that apparently Ridley Scott himself is “breathing down the necks” of executives at Universal to spend an extra $7-8 Million to make a 3D version of his upcoming period action/drama, Robin Hood. This is obviously one of the more confusing titles that we’ve heard associated with the 3D phenomena, and it lead us to begin wondering when this whole technology has just gone too far?
Many big names in the business have laid solid claim to 3D being the future of cinema, but judging by the collective feelings of movie fans, it is unclear whether this is what people want. There’s no doubt at all that when it comes to films like Avatar, which is built specifically for that technology, and fun movies like Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, 3D can be a really great time. But when this is happening so often that a movie like Robin Hood is even joining the party, you can’t help but think it’s only a matter of time before we see movies like Steven Spielberg‘s Abraham Lincoln biopic Lincoln getting in line for some 3D action. That’s just too much.

| Hollywood Stars Re-Create Their Own Classic Film Moments |
 |

Empire Magazine celebrated their 20th anniversary a while back, and they made sure to do it proper. Many big news stories and goodies came from the event, but one of the big plans they hatched, was to attempt to book a bunch of the world’s biggest Hollywood stars for a photo shoot where they would re-create some of their own classic film scenes. The result: big stars showed up. Lot’s of them. And though they didn’t get completely dressed in costume (the plan was to simply shoot them in nice attire with obvious props used to clarify the film), many fantastic images now exist. The list of names is impressive and includes Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Cruise, Christian Bale, Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, Mel Gibson, Laurence Fishburne, Ben Stiller, Viggo Mortensen, Kevin Spacey, Matt Damon, Anthony Hopkins, and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, naturally! Movies that were re-created include Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Braveheart, The Matrix, Sev7en, Silence of the Lambs, Jurassic Park, and Shaun of the Dead. Click over to the other side to check out some of the images we were quite smitten with; head over to Empire in order to see many more, including a lot more stars and movies not mentioned here!

| ‘Boondock Saints’ Director Troy Duffy Breaks His Silence On ‘Overnight’ |
 |

The documentary Overnight is a film that follows Troy Duffy, a former bartender who became an overnight Hollywood sensation when his script The Boondock Saints caught everyone’s eyes and delivered him a deal with Harvey Weinstein and Miramax Films, and a $15 Million budget to make his movie. Film makers Tony Montana and Mark Brian Smith followed Duffy and his friends and family as they reached the highest of highs with the movie deal and a music deal, and then lost them both as Troy seemingly refused to kiss the system’s feet. The movie painted the man in an interesting light. As you can plainly tell, a large amount of people flat-out decided that he was an ass and that they hated him based solely on this movie, and something never felt quite right about it. Because of that, I’ve personally always been interested to hear what Troy himself thought about it all, and now we know thanks to an interview that he did with /Film‘s David Chen. Click over for direct quotes from Troy Duffy as well as the the studio and film makers behind the documentary.
