Dwayne The Rock Johnson May Play As Lobo

Dwayne Johnson, who is practically built to fit any sort of muscular character for TV or film, has confirmed that he is in negotiations to play Lobo, a space renegade riding a star-hopping chopper.

It seems quite fitting that Johnson play as the famed DC Comic anti-hero for a couple of reasons. For one reason, he certainly fits the profile of Lobo. The other reason is that he’s been rumored to play as the anti-hero for quite some time, so its quite nice to hear the news come straight from the horse’s mouth. Of course Johnson stopped short of actually confirming that he was signed on for the role.

Johnson confirmed the news via a Twitter chat. Check out the photo below.

Liam Neeson

Clearly Liam Neeson is enjoying his time as an action movie star, as he continues to line up one new project after the other.

It’s being reported that Neeson has entered into negotiations to star in Non-Stop, a new action thriller from Dark Castle Entertainment. Not much is known about the movie yet, but it will supposedly be a “gritty” and “contained” thriller set on a domestic flight, with Neeson playing an air marshal.

Lobo

Super producer Joel Silver spoke to The LA Times recently, and on the menu of topics discussed were the proposed comic book adaptation of Lobo, as well as Sherlock Holmes 2 — both of which were set to be directed by Guy Ritchie.

Because Holmes has done so well ($389 million to date), a sequel is being thrown onto that popular fast track to try and get it done and ready while all of the stars are willing to return. If you’ll recall: Sherlock himself, Robert Downey Jr., recently walked away from the comic book adaptation of Cowboys & Aliens, which was to reunite him with his Iron Man director, Jon Favreau (Read: Daniel Craig In Negotiations To Replace Robert Downey Jr. In “˜Cowboys & Aliens’).

Swamp Thing

While doing a conference for the new Kate Beckinsale movie, Whiteout, mega-producer Joel Silver was asked about what projects he might have coming up and his thoughts on the new and improved 3-D technology that’s sweeping the business. Collider was attending the conference, and reports that Silver revealed that he does in fact have a project that he’s held the rights to for a period of time now, and that he believes would be perfect for the 3-D treatment. That movie: Swamp Thing!

Swamp Thing is a DC Comics character created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson that was turned into a 1982 horror/superhero movie of the same name that was written and directed by Wes Craven. It told the tale of a scientist who was transformed into a half man, half swamp life being after a lab accident. After the accident, he eventually moves into the swamp and begins fighting the various threats to his new environment. A sequel called The Return of Swamp Thing was released in 1987, but wasn’t received as well — though many would say Swamp Thing himself looked a-lot more bad-ass in the sequel.

Veronica Mars

Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas had a little chat with iF Magazine about where things stood on a possible movie version of the popular show starring Kristen Bell.

As it turns out, his latest show Cupid (on its second TV run) isn’t going very well, being brought down from thirteen episodes to eight of them. Because of this, he’s been able to do a lot of work on a script for Veronica Mars and even locate some fat cash for the project where a lot of people locate large amounts of movie money — Joel Silver.
