| ‘Star Wars’: Donald Glover Cast As Lando Calrissian In Han Solo Film
This deal is getting better all the time. Back in August, we reported that Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of the upcoming Star Wars Story spin-off that follows a young Han Solo (to be played by Alden Ehrenreich), were looking at Donald Glover, star of Community, Atlanta, and The Martian and the Grammy-winning rap artist known as Childish Gambino, for the role of Han’s fellow charming scoundrel Lando Calrissian. Today, Lucasfilm has officially announced that Glover will indeed play Calrissian in the as-yet-untitled feature.

| Young Han Solo Spinoff Cuts Shortlist To Five
Just moments after Disney announced that Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg would reunite for Indiana Jones 5, comes word that the studio has narrowed down their shortlist for actors to play the lead role in the young Han Solo film to five. Last year it was revealed that around 2,500 actors had auditioned for the role, indicating that Disney was open to any idea. That list shrunk, with eight A-listers vying for the role. Now that list has gotten even smaller. According to various reports, there are five actors now in contention for the role. Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie The Eagle), Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Blake Jenner (Glee), and Jack O’Connell (Unbroken) are the five actors up for the role. More on the story below.

| Lawrence Kasdan May Be Done Writing ‘Star Wars’ Scripts After Han Solo Film
Lawrence Kasdan is the scribe behind some of Lucasfilms’ greatest films like The Empire Strikes Back, The Return Of The Jedi, and Raiders Of The Lost Ark. He’s also behind films like The Big Chill and Dreamcatcher. So when Disney acquired Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy got the scribe to co-write a script for the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The screenwriter will also be co-writing the untitled Han Solo movie with his son, Jon. The film which will be directed by The LEGO Movie helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller may be Kasdan’s last Star Wars script. Find out more about this story below.
