| Justin Lin Says ‘Star Trek 3’ Was “Very Emotional Decision”; Will Explore New Worlds
After directing four of the seven Fast and Furious films and two episodes of HBO’s True Detective, Justin Lin will now be working on helming Star Trek 3. Much of the plot of the film, written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, has been a secret, though there are rumors that it could be Enterprise’s five-year mission. We won’t know much about the film for quite a while, but Lin, who was at the TCL Chinese Theater to place his hands on cement, was able to talk a little bit about the film. | Second ‘True Detective’ Season 2 Trailer Released
HBO has released a second trailer for the upcoming season two of the hit crime drama True Detective, which stars Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, and Kelly Reilly. Created and written by Nic Pizzolatto, the first two episodes of season two are directed by Justin Lin (Fast and Furious 3-6, Star Trek 3), who takes over for season one director Cary Fukunaga. | First ‘True Detective’ Season 2 Trailer Is Here
HBO has released the first trailer for season two of their acclaimed crime drama anthology series True Detective. The trailer is only a minute long, but still shows off plenty of footage to get fans of the series excited for the sophomore effort. Season two stars Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, Taylor Kitsch, and Kelly Reilly, with Justin Lin directing the first two episodes of the season. Cary Fukunaga directed all eight episodes of the highly praised first season of the show, which was created and written by Nic Pizzolatto, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. | ‘Fast and Furious 8’ Not Officially Confirmed, Yet
Normally a first weekend’s box office numbers judge whether or not the film is a success and if it deserves a sequel. Some films don’t get the latter despite being a success, but for the ones that do get sequels, they can expand to a franchise. The Fast and Furious franchise has been doing that for seven installments already. Even though this past weekend’s Furious 7 grossed $392 million worldwide, Universal has yet to confirm if there will be a Fast and Furious 8. This may have to do with just taking a break from everything that has happened with the production of the film and finding a story. Hit the jump for more details.

| Idris Elba In Talks For ‘Star Trek 3’ Villain Role
It’s being reported that Pacific Rim and Luther star Idris Elba has entered into negotiations to play the villain in the upcoming Star Trek 3. Who exactly Elba would be playing is not yet known at the moment, though there have been some whispers that Klingons could be the main bad guys for this latest entry in the franchise. Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions would not confirm or deny.
