| NeverRants: ‘The Incredibles’ Is NOT A Fantastic Four Movie
A new Fantastic Four movie was just released from Fox. This… is not about that movie. This is about the way we fans talk about Fantastic Four movies, and how we may, in fact, be getting it wrong. I’ve seen it happen enough to be a foregone conclusion: when discussing Marvel comics on film, if you bring up the Fantastic Four, somebody will return volley with, “If you want to see a perfect Fantastic Four movie, go watch The Incredibles.” I’ve done it myself — MANY times — and that particular refrain got louder and more frequent the closer we got to the release of the latest Fox effort. | ‘Fantastic Four’ Preview Video: There’s Strength In Numbers
Many doubted the Josh Trank‘s Fantastic Four since plot and character details started hitting the web. | Ava DuVernay: Why She Turned Down Directing ‘Black Panther’
Ava DuVernay‘s stunning work on Selma put her as one of the frontrunners to direct Black Panther. Though there was some initial excitement on the possibility, DuVernay ultimately walked away from the job, citing creative differences as the reason. “Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me,” said DuVernay. As we have all seen before with Patty Jenkins, Edgar Wright, Alan Taylor, and Joss Whedon, all had to work under the Marvel guidelines, connecting their work to the collective Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not really an easy job when you want to maintain your creative input, while being pressured to be part of a universe you may not be as concerned with. More on why DuVernay turned down the job below.

| ‘Ant-Man’ Trailer: “I Think Our First Move Should Be Calling The Avengers”
Marvel won’t be making any big marketing push for Ant-Man at Comic-Con this year, the film has already been getting some surprisingly great reviews. But the studio is bringing us one final trailer before the film’s release. As always, there is new footage to look at, as well as some familiar ones. But the trailer makes a point of acknowledging its existence within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, by asking those nagging questions about why aren’t some of the more qualified heroes there to help Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), and insulting those same heroes as well. Check out the new trailer below.
