| Netflix Announces First Lineup Of Mark Millar Movies and Series
Almost one year ago it was announced that Netflix had acquired Millarworld, Kick-Ass and Kingsman creator Mark Millar‘s comic book publishing company. Now Netflix has unveiled the first lineup of movies and TV series based on the stories of Millar that are on the way. You can see what they are below along with more information on each.

He’s busy… with Korean shit!” – Ice Cube, 21 Jump Street Back in 2008, when Columbia Pictures announced they were developing a film adaptation of 21 Jump Street, I was wracked with cynicism. “Really?” I asked incredulously. “Because Starsky & Hutch and Bewitched did so well?” My cynical nerd-brain jumped immediately to the place it so often does these days, “Just what we need, another reboot that no one asked for!” I was pleasantly surprised, however, to discover that this revamp wasn’t a gritty, self-serious take like Michael Mann’s Miami Vice, but rather an uproarious action-comedy by the directing duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. And I certainly wasn’t expecting 21 Jump Street to be such a smart, self-reflexive satire of ’80s buddy cop flicks and teen movie tropes.

| ’21 Jump Street,’ ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’ Writer To Pen ‘Weird Science’ Remake
Writer and actor Michael Bacall, who worked on the screenplays for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with Edgar Wright, found footage party flick Project X, and the movie remake of the ’80s TV series 21 Jump Street, has been hired to pen the script for Weird Science for Universal Pictures. The movie will be a remake of the 1985 comedy of the same name written and directed by the late, great John Hughes, which starred Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith as a couple of nerds who accidentally create the perfect woman using a computer. What they end up with, however, is much more than they ever expected. The original also starred Kelly LeBrock, Bill Paxton, and Robert Downey Jr.

| ‘Tropic Thunder’ Producer Les Grossman Biopic In The Works; Tom Cruise In Talks To Star
In a funny press release put out by Paramount Pictures and MTV Films, it was officially announced that a biopic all about the fictional super-producer Mr. Les Grossman was being developed by the studios. Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) has been tapped to write the screenplay, and Tropic Thunder director Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld of Red Hour Films will be producing. When asked about what the movie would be about, Grossman responded “To quote my great friend Kirk Lazarus (played in Tropic Thunder by Robert Downey Jr.), “˜I don’t read the script, the script reads me.'”
