Just a quick heads up for all of you twitching fanatics eagerly awaiting the arrival of Bethesda Softworks’ long-awaited The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim this November, you can now pre-order and secure your very own copy right now!

The game can be pre-ordered from all the usual outlets like Amazon, Best Buy, Game Stop, WalMart, and Play ‘N Trade. There will likely be some added incentive to pre-order in the form of in-game extras coming in the near future as well, but if you simply just can’t wait to lock yours up this is your chance. The best option at the moment is Amazon, who’s selling the game at a discounted $56.99 instead of the full $59.99.

Game Review: DC Universe Online

DC Universe Online
Sony Online Entertainment
PlayStation 3/PC
Price: $59.99 with a $14.99 monthly subscription
Released January 11th, 2011

DC Universe Online is not the first superhero Massively Multiplayer Online RPG to be released, but it is the first to have a major license behind it and it has been widely anticipated by its audience. Thanks to this game, players have the chance to fight alongside some of their favorite characters as well as interact with other fans. The game doesn’t stray too far from the formula perfected by World of Warcraft, which is a good thing, because the setting is really the selling point of the game. Never before have players been able to explore a living, breathing DC universe in this way. However, the game is not without its flaws, and those looking to check it out may want to wait a few weeks while the inevitable bugs are worked out of the system.

The story sets up the flavor of the DC universe right from the start. Lex Luthor has traveled from a future in which he has defeated Superman, but met defeat at the hands of Brainiac. He has traveled back in time and released those most precious of plot devices, nanobots, into the atmosphere in order to turn ordinary people (the player) into an army of superheroes that can defeat Braniac. It doesn’t take a masters degree in DC history to keep up, but a lot of the fun of the game is seeing your favorite DC heroes and villains brought to life and fighting beside them. It also helps to know some of the creators behind the books, as many of the locations are named after famous writers, artists, and editors.

New ‘Mortal Kombat’ To Feature Playable Kratos From ‘God Of War’ On PS3

It’s always fun to see a popular character from a video game or movie showing up in other video games and movies…but this might just be the most perfect crossover we’ve seen so far.

According to the January issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, the brand new installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise will feature a very special guest: the vicious and brutal warrior from the God of War series, Kratos.

Kratos was born to do battle and end lives, and the carnage left in his wake is among the bloodiest ever seen within the realms of entertainment. Considering what he’s fought through in the three God of War games, many might argue that there isn’t a Mortal Kombat character who could stand toe-to-toe with Kratos, but there’s no debating how perfect his inclusion in the one-on-one combat game is.

Game Review: R.U.S.E.

R.U.S.E.
PLATFORMS: PS3, Xbox 360, PC
DEVELOPER: Eugen Systems
PUBLISHER: Ubisoft
RELEASE DATE: September 7, 2010

For fans of real-time strategy games, a new one set in the midst of World War II is waiting for you. The game is called R.U.S.E. and it gives you control as you make the calls while trying to infiltrate the looming German threat.

Now, to be perfectly honest, I’ve never been a fan of the real-time strategy games, personally. Something about them just never did it for me. I much prefer having control of one character, and being able to play their story; to step into their world. With games like this, you have to worry about a lot of different variables while playing from sort of an “eye-in-the-sky” perspective, and though this is something appealing to many, it’s never quite done it for me.

That said, I can still see the appeal in a title like R.U.S.E. for lovers of the genre. This may not be my type of game, but after a few hours of trying very hard to get a feel for this outside of my comfort zone type of gameplay, I can’t deny that I was actually getting into the action.
