| SDCC 2019: ‘Black Widow’ Brings More Spy Action To The Marvel Fold
Marvel Studios’ Black Widow may have been in production for only 30 days, but that stop them from showing off some footage to San Diego Comic-Con attendees today. Scarlett Johansson and director Cate Shortland (Berlin Syndrome, Lore) stopped by the Con to tell everyone there how the production was going, and announced that it would be the first new Marvel film of 2020.

| Watch: New Trailer For ‘The Favourite’ Starring Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, Olivia Colman
Fox Searchlight has released a new trailer for The Favourite, an upcoming historical drama about Queen Anne in the early 18th century which stars Emma Stone (La La Land, Birdman), Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener, The Fountain), and Olivia Colman (Hot Fuzz, The Crown). If this is the first you’ve heard of the movie, the trailer might initially make it look like your typical awards season release—or “Oscar Bait,” as they are often labeled. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Those types of films are often excellent. But as the trailer progresses it quickly becomes more than just a historical drama. It becomes funny. It becomes dark. All led by what appear to be three fittingly awards-caliber performances by Stone, Weisz, and Colman. Continue below for more info on The Favourite and to check out the new trailer along with a new poster.

Release Date: June 11, 2013 If you keep up with my reviews, you know that I wrote up a review of the last time I saw this movie, which happened to be in real IMAX 3D, and you can find that review here. A quick recap of the story, Oz (James Franco, This is the End), finds himself in the land of Oz, where he goes on a journey to prove himself, with some help from a few witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis, Family Guy), Evanora (Rachel Weisz, The Mummy), and of course we can’t forget about Glinda, (Michelle Williams, Dawson’s Creek), who I thought was one of the highlights as far as acting is concerned. And yes Dorothy, cause this is a Sam Raimi (Spider-Man Trilogy) film, be on the lookout for a familiar chin, Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead) has a cameo appearance.

RELEASE DATE: June 11, 2013 When we first heard back in 2010 that a new movie based on the fantastical tale The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum titled Oz the Great and Powerful was on the way with American Beauty and Skyfall director Sam Mendes and Robert Downey Jr. possibly attached, there was certainly intrigue, but there was also a whole lot of question as to the sanity of Disney. 1939’s The Wizard of Oz is a timeless classic, beloved by millions, and despite it being a remake in its own right (see older versions here) the thought of someone even trying to do anything set in the land of Oz seemed absurd. But as I said over three years ago, Baum’s world and characters are eternally ripe for reinterpretation. Eventually The Evil Dead and Spider-Man director Sam Raimi became attached, then stepped away from the planned World of Warcraft movie to take on Oz. Some complications arose, as is always expected. Downey Jr. was replaced by Johnny Depp for the lead, then James Franco was eventually cast to replace Depp. Obviously things settled down eventually and the movie got made, but does it recapture the same magic that the ’39 classic had, or does it swing and miss?

Release Date: March 8, 2013 Based on L. Frank Baum‘s Oz novels, Oz the Great and Powerful is a prequel to Baum’s 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and an homage to the classic 1939 MGM film, The Wizard of Oz. Set 20 years before Dorothy clicked her heels, Oscar Diggs (James Franco) arrives in the magical Land of Oz where he encounters three witches: Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams). Theodora is convinced that the small-time magician and scam artist is a great and powerful wizard of prophecy, destined to overthrow the Wicked Witch who killed the king of Oz. Oscar must follow the yellow brick road to Emerald City where he will reclaim Oz from the Witch and free its people of her vile and cruel ways. Along the way Oscar encounters Finley (Zach Braff), a flying monkey in a bellhop uniform, and China Girl (Joey King), a living china doll whose home and family were destroyed by the Wicked Witch.
