The Host

Despite the conclusion of the cinematic adaptation of her Twilight novels, writer Stephenie Meyer isn’t going anywhere.

EW is reporting that Max Irons has been cast in the role of Jared Howe for the upcoming film based on Meyer’s novel, The Host. The film, scheduled to bow in 2013, is set to be helmed by Andrew Niccol, and already finds Saoirse Ronan in the lead role of Melanie Stryder, “a young woman who shares her body with an alien force known as Wanderer.”

The Twilight Saga

This might just be one of the best videos I’ve ever seen.

The video sums up the popular five–movie series, The Twilight Saga, in just four short seconds. The movies, which are based on the books of author Stephenie Meyer, star Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner.

Though it was uploaded in July and I’m a little late to the party, it’s still oh, so worth sharing. I giggled like a fool, over and over and over again. And, unless you’re a Twi–hard, you probably will too.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn

It’s safe to say that the two Breaking Dawn movies are the most anticipated installments of the Twilight film franchise. Fans of the books know exactly what happens between the human Bella and her vampire love Edward in Stephenie Meyer’s final book, and thanks to all the internet buzz on it, everyone else in the world knows it too.

Spoilers ahead for Breaking Dawn (as if this information is avoidable):

Ok, we know in Breaking Dawn that Bella and Edward get hitched and that they actually consummate the marriage, even though in the Twilight universe, vampire-human sex is quite dangerous to the human. There’s a romantic wedding night for the couple that ends in some kind of feather fiasco. And, Edward manages to impregnate his wife, but having a half-vamp baby inside her is yet another physical danger to Bella.

A new name has been cast in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, as announced by author Stephenie Meyer on The Twilight Saga Facebook page.

Meyer reveals that Mackenzie Foy has joined the cast of the two-part final movie. The 9-year-old actress will play the part of (SPOILER Warning?) Summit Entertainment has revealed today that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 will open in theaters on November 16, 2012, a year after its Part 1 predecessor.

Following the lead of the Harry Potter film franchise, the studio confirmed back in June that the big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer‘s final Twilight Saga novel would be broken up into two films, both of which will be directed by Bill Condon.

Last month, it was announced that filming would begin on the final movies this Fall, with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 to be released in theaters on November 18, 2011. ‘Twilight’ Holdouts Ashley Greene & Kellan Lutz Confirmed For ‘Breaking Dawn’

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Recently it was reported that because Summit Entertainment had not decided earlier that their final movie in the Twilight franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, would be split into two movies and because their actors had become stars, talents like Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz were holding out in hopes of pulling in a much bigger payday (Read: Will ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’ Re-Cast Cullen Kids Ashley Greene & Kellan Lutz?). It was also for this reason that the assumed-two-part film had not been made “official” yet, even though there was little doubt that all cast members would eventually rejoin the three main stars.

In a press release put out by Summit, the studio announced the return of the entire Cullen family, including Greene, Lutz, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, and Elizabeth Reaser. The release pointed out that the actors have joined Billy Burke, who plays Charlie Swan. Three new posters were also released for the next film in the series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, one of which can seen to the right.

Breaking Dawn

When it comes to the sequels in a juggernaut franchise, it’s only a matter of time before money becomes the main focus of the talent involved, and complications develop.

And so it begins.

As you all know, Summit Entertainment wants to split the final movie in their series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, into two parts so that they can cover more of the story and of course, so that they can add a few hundred-million dollars more to their bank account. But why has this two-part movie always been “hoped” for and not an official decision? Money, naturally.

When Twilight was first being made it had a big following behind the books, but the movie didn’t have a massive budget and its stars, who were signed on for a possible three films if the first did well, did not get paid a lot of money. The movie went on to pull in insane box office numbers, instantly creating a worldwide phenomenon and solidifying the birth of a franchise instead of just one film. This also lead Summit to smartly re-enter into negotiations with their stars to lock them up for a last movie based on the fourth book from author Stephenie Meyer.

twilight the graphic novel vol 1Yen Press will release Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 1 on March 16, 2010, with a first printing of 350,000 copies, according to EW’s Shelf Life, which exclusively debuted the book’s cover and a sneak peak at one of its panels. The hardcover book is available for pre-order right now.

It was announced back in July 2009 that Yen Press would be publishing the graphic novel adaptation, with Young Kim providing the adaptation and art for the project and Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer carefully reviewing each panel [Read: Graphic Novel Version Of ‘Twilight’ Is Officially On The Way].

In a Q&A session with EW, Meyer talked about her involvement in the project, stating that while she didn’t write the script for the graphic novel, she did do a lot of “tinkering.”

I was definitely involved. I didn’t do the original “script” for the book, so to speak. But when I got the dialogue with the images, I did a lot of tinkering. In a couple of places, I asked for missing scenes to be inserted. For example, the conversation in the car that Bella and Edward have after she faints in Biology.
