| Steve Carell To Leave ‘The Office’ After Next Season
One of the more popular shows on TV is NBC’s The Office, which is an American remake of the UK’s hit BBC series of the same name. While that show starred Ricky Gervais in the lead role, Steve Carell was the main man of our own Office series. While speaking to US Magazine on the red carpet for his new animated film, Despicable Me, Carell made things very clear. “Yes, it will be my last [season]. It’s the last on my contract, and I want to honor my contract. I am excited — just so I can spend more time with my family. I’m sure I’m going to be very nostalgic; I mean, these are some of my best friends in the world! But it will be good — it will be good for everybody.”

| Spoiler Talk: Date Night |

Is your life monotonous? Do you feel like you are bored of your partner. Well stop whining and go watch Date Night!
I really did not know what to make of this movie when I first saw the preview. I really like Tina Fey and Steve Carell and their comedy style. I really cannot think of an instance where these two have worked together, at least if there was one I never saw it. So I was extremely interested to see what kind of chemistry they have. The most exciting pull of the whole movie though is definitely the cast. When I watched the preview and saw stars like Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Mila Kunis, Jimmi Simpson, and Common, I knew this movie would have star power at the very least. Well being that this is a slow weekend for movies this was a nice little story that I really enjoyed. It’s a somewhat unoriginal premise but then takes that and spins it with a more realistic couple and more realistic reaction to a crazy situation. The comedy was great and the improvisation stands out because it really was quite hilarious. Anyways, I am ready to get to the SPOILER TALK, how about you? Below are some of my spoiler filled thoughts about the film. Don’t forget to add your input at the bottom in the comments section!

| Movie Review: Date Night |

Date Night
Directed by Shawn Levy
Starring Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Mark Wahlberg, Jimmi Simpson, Common
Rated PG-13
Release date: April 9, 2010 )
It seems like good comedies are increasingly hard to come by these days. Why bother with decent writing and actors with skilled comedic timing when you can just make pop culture references and poop jokes? Yes, I’m looking at you Friedberg and Seltzer. Date Night, on the other hand, will probably be remembered as the best comedy of 2010. While the film is already be called this year’s The Hangover, I’m going to just say something that will probably bring me ridicule and debate. Date Night is better than The Hangover. Obviously comedic values are very subjective, but I personally find awkward, fish-out-of-water comedy much more entertaining than drunken wackiness. Each has their place, but I think in the long run Date Night will appeal to more people as The Hangover is more of the definitive “guy movie.” Date Night stars a powerhouse of comedic talent in Tina Fey and Steve Carell. Carell has proven himself to be a strong comedic lead with The Office and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and Fey may just be the most talented comedic writer in television today. While they don’t have much romantic chemistry between them on screen, the plot only requires that they have comedic chemistry, of which they have plenty.

| Doom Discussion: 67th Annual Golden Globe Winners & Losers |
 |

Well, the 67th annual Golden Globe Awards were just handed out, and the winners and losers are now here for us to talk about. The popularity and integrity of the Globes has consistently declined over the years as it became apparent that those who were voting were typically voting based on popularity and not so much on those who are deserving (a trend among awards shows, it would seem). Still, these are the awards that set the table for the big one, the Academy Awards, and what we can start to expect when those are handed out. The show was actually better than it usually is. Ricky Gervais was a brilliant host, and even though he likely pissed a lot of people off with his edgy humor, it will be impossible to ignore the positive feedback you will hear from his job this evening. The awards played out as expected with a few pleasant surprises and the typical sickening winner from time-to-time. For those of you who missed the Golden Globes or just didn’t watch them, click on over to the other side to see a rundown of highlights to seek out on YouTube and low points to avoid. Also to be found below is the entire list of nominees, with the winner in each category in bold if you don’t care and just want to peek at who won.
