Red Tails

Star Wars creator and master money-maker George Lucas stopped by The Daily Show recently to chat with Jon Stewart about his upcoming WWII passion project, Red Tails. Lucas has been working hard to get the movie made for over two decades now, but, as you’ll hear in the video, faced many hurdles in succeeding, including most major studios not wanting to take on a big budget risk with an almost entirely black cast and a movie they didn’t think could be marketed in foreign markets.

But as always, the conversation found its way to Star Wars as Lucas compared the two, and an interesting announcement was made. You can read more and check out the video of George Lucas on The Daily Show below.

‘The Daily Show’ Revisits The Unforgivable ‘Saving Private Ryan’ & ‘Goodfellas’ Oscar Screwjobs

While discussing the London riots on The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart and senior European correspondent John Oliver took a bit of a detour.

After mentioning how horrible the riots are and how bad European wars are in general, Oliver notes that some good has come of them as well, such as the various movies about them including Saving Private Ryan.

After declaring Ryan a Best Picture Oscar winner, Stewart corrects Oliver and informs him that Shakespeare In Love was in fact the winner that year. This hilariously sets off the two on a mini–tirade about the atrocity that not only the Saving Private Ryan upset was, but also the loss of Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas to Kevin Costner’s Dances With Wolves.

‘Tosh.0’ Passes John Stewart’s ‘Daily Show’ As Top Comedy Central Studio Show

The return of Futurama recently broke some records for Comedy Central pulling in 2.9 million viewers on its first night back (which has now apparently dropped to 2 million — what’s everyone doing, keep watching!). And now the network has another relatively new show taking over the top spot of their studio recorded programs.

Tosh.0 is a simple show mainly consisting of video clips found on the internet, a funny bit here and there, and a weekly “Web Redemption” for some viral video superstar to clear their name. But sometimes simple is best, with numbers showing a new high of 2.4 million viewers for this past Wednesday’s episode. This propels Tosh.0 by not only Stephen Colbert’s The Colbert Report, but even John Stewart and The Daily Show making it the new highest-rated studio show on Comedy Central and placing it third overall behind Futurama and South Park.

Olivia Munn Leaving G4TV For ‘The Daily Show’?

Olivia Munn, who is perhaps best known for her work as co-host of G4TV’s Attack of the Show, made her debut as a fake-news correspondent for Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, which was billed as a “tryout” for the actress, according to Reuters.

Munn appeared in a sketch about the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill’s effect on Vietnamese fishermen on the June 3 episode with a pregnant Samantha Bee. And, while met with strong applause when introduced by host Jon Stewart as the newest Asian correspondent, reactions from fans have been mixed across the web.

Typically tryouts on The Daily Show have been given to relatively unknowns, which Munn, who appeared as a reporter in summer blockbuster Iron Man 2, clearly is not. If she does end up as a regular it could mean a departure from G4TV and hopefully an open door for some of her peers to follow suit [*ahem*chrishardwick*ahem*] .

Check out the sketch embedded below and tell us what you think. Hilarious? Horrible?
