The Princess Bride

Just recently Entertainment Weekly gathered up the casts of some popular movies for their 2011 Cast Reunions issue, which included the cast of director Rob Reiner‘s 1987 timeless fantasy classic, The Princess Bride.

And being that it happens to be my own personal favorite movie of all time, I eat this stuff up. So when I saw that Good Morning America also jumped on the cast reunion for their Totally Awesome ’80s Week, giddiness levels elevated. Stars Cary Elwes (Westley/The Man in Black), Robin Wright (Princess Buttercup), Chris Sarandon (Prince Humperdinck), Wallace Shawn (Vizzini), Billy Crystal (Miracle Max), and Carol Kane (Valerie) were present to discuss the movie and tell stories from behind the scenes, including a very funny one involving the late Andre the Giant, who played Fezzik.

You can see a video of the cast of The Princess Bride reunited on the set of Good Morning America by heading below now.

Michael Douglas and Glenn Close from Fatal Attraction

For it’s annual Cast Reunions issue Entertainment Weekly has once again assembled the stars of several notable films and television series for retrospective portraits. The magazine has also posted videos from four of the photo shoots on its website: The Princess Bride; Aliens; Fatal Attraction; and Office Space.

The videos make for a good watch and it’s cool to see most of the cast members of some of my favorite movies getting together to reminisce about the good old days. One thing that struck me as odd was Cary Elwes’ lack of a British accent in his interview for the Princess Bride shoot. Is he going Christian Bale on us?

After a wonderful career including memorable performances on the stage and screens, big and small, the great Peter Falk passed away at his Beverly Hills home Thursday night at the age of 83. The actor had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease at the time of his passing.

Though he performed in movies and on the stage as well, it is his TV work for which he will be best remembered. Falk starred on the hit crime series, Columbo, which ran sporadically from 1971 to 2003. Only 68 episodes were produced in all””running 2 to 8 episodes per year from ’71 to ’78 before taking over a decade off, and then returning from ’89 to ’03 for a few episodes here and there””and the show was noted for revealing who committed the crimes at the very start of the show, leaving viewers to only wait and see how the crafty Columbo figures out who it is for himself.

Robot Santa

Every year, we scatter looking for the best gifts and the best prices to complete our holiday shopping needs as soon as humanly possible. For some strange reason, many people still actually head out into the chaos that is the holiday shopping season, though it’s obvious that just hanging out at home is so insanely better, even if you have to pay a little more. Many sites online like to do their own holiday gift guides each year to help you find what you may be looking for, and we at Geeks of Doom are no different. Our own Tom Cheredar recently put together a fantastic guide for those of you looking for the best Wii sports accessories, and if you stay tuned, we will have a large gift guide with all of 2009’s best movies, games, and other goodies that translate into the best gifts!

Until that guide is complete, here is yet another to tide you over. This is a guide that really digs to the core for some of the best gifts out there for the true geek in all of us. The gifts in this guide come from perhaps the best website on the planet for strange and wonderful goodies, ThinkGeek. It includes gadgets, toys, apparel, and just pure geeky fun items; with price tags varying from cheap to hefty, but most things are pretty affordable. Most of you have probably heard of the site, and if you’re like me, you want to move in with them and play with everything they have…always…for ever and ever and ever. If you haven’t heard of them, you will definitely enjoy this introduction, but be warned: you WILL want everything.

Click on over to check out the list. We’ve included just a handful of our favorite geek-related gifts. If nothing here suits you, you can head to their site where you can find a whole lot more stuff from movies and also non-movie-related stuff that’s all equally fantastic. We have a few images here, but all gift ideas have plenty of images at their source and sometimes a video to show off what it does.
