| Surprise! Ricky Gervais To Host The Golden Globes Again
When the hilarious British comedian Ricky Gervais hosted the 67th annual Golden Globes ceremony this past January, it was one of the better hosting jobs we’ve seen lately (Doom Discussion: 67th Annual Golden Globe Winners & Losers). His work was also incredibly sharp and may have pushed a few boundaries here and there (including a few jabs at broadcasting network, NBC), so it was thought that despite the popularity, he probably would not be back. In a surprising turn-of-events, NBC has proven that success is far more important than personal feelings, and it has been announced that Gervais will return to host the Globes yet again next year. With 17 million viewers (up 12%) in his first hosting go-round, none can argue that the move doesn’t make all the sense in the world.

| Comic Review: Batman & Robin, Vol. 1: Batman Reborn |
By orangerful Batman & Robin, Vol. 1: Batman Reborn
DC Comics Deluxe Edition
Written by Grant Morrison
Art by Frank Quitely, Philip Tan
Release date: April 13, 2010
Batman is dead? I didn’t even know he was sick! That’s the very basic premise of the new Batman & Robin series, written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Frank Quitely. The Caped Crusader is MIA (after an adventure in another Morrison series ended poorly) and presumed dead. Dick Grayson, the original Robin, has set aside his Nightwing costume and donned the Dark Knight’s cowl. Damian Wayne, Bruce’s estranged 10-year-old son who was raised by assassins, has put on the Robin outfit. Together this pair attempts to make the world believe that Batman is alive and well (and Bruce Wayne is just out of town indefinitely). If you’re a comics fan, you’re probably familiar with Morrison’s work and know that his stories are not for the faint of heart. This applies to the ‘Batman Reborn’ collection — it’s gritty, it’s raw but it is oh so good. From page one, the comic hits the ground running, bringing together plotlines from previous series. Don’t worry if you’re not a die-hard Batman fan — you might get a bit confused by character references, but it’s nothing a quick Wikipedia search can’t cure.

| Comic Review: Angelus #3 |
Angelus #3
Written by Ron Marz
Art by Stjepan Sejic
Letters by Troy Peteri
Top Cow Productions
Price: $2.99
Release Date: April 14, 2010
When they say beauty is an eternal thing, they weren’t kidding. Meet the Angelus, they are the warriors for the side of light, one of a few that wield some of the most powerful forces in the universe, the other main two being the Witchblade and the Darkness (which are also two of the other major titles out by Top Cow Productions right now). Danielle Baptiste could be considered your average woman, except for one thing: she is the current vessel for The Angelus, a source of power that embodies the bearer with the force of light. Before this though she had once held the power of the Witchblade, but those days are behind her. Danielle is returning home to New Orleans for a change and to reconnect with family. And to top it all off, Mardi Gras is going on at the same time. This of course means partying, parades, and costumes. But there is something else waiting for Danielle there, something that is hiding in the dark. Will the power of the Angelus be enough to fight off what awaits her? Or is her homecoming a death sentence?

| Spoiler Talk: The Losers |

The Losers is one of my favorite comics that showed me that not all comics have to be complicated and bogged down by continuity and details. Sometimes comics can be just an enjoyable, action-packed thrill ride. So, needless to say, I was extremely excited when I saw that this was coming to the big screen — I was overjoyed! I still strongly believe that this movie could have been marketed so much better and made so much more money, but that is a different story all together.
I definitely enjoyed this movie more than any other movie I have watched this entire year. I’ve already watched it twice and will probably see it again. It had that great popcorn action flick feel just like the comic did. It was a fun action movie that just kept on going all the way through the end and didn’t drag even for a second. Unlike Kick-Ass, The Losers is a very close adaptation of the first volume of the comic and can people will easily see where the story is coming from. In fact, the casting in this movie was near perfect and Cougar, who is my favorite in the comic, is also my favorite in the movie. I really hope this movie does well because I would love to see the sequel be made because of its success. Anyways, enough of the small talk let’s get to the SPOILER TALK! Below are my spoilerific thoughts on the movie The Losers. Don’t forget to add your spoiler-laden musings at the end in the comments section.

| ‘Final Destination 5’ Grabs A Writer From ‘The Thing’
In case you were not aware, Final Destination 5 is well on its way to us already, despite the weak offering we received last time around. New Line Cinema has hired Eric Heisserer to begin writing the script for the movie, fresh off of his turn penning the prequel/remake of John Carpenter’s The Thing. The Final Destination movies have been a lot of fun for the most part. They don’t contain any real story or acting and they’re not going to win awards, but when it comes to graphic horror movie shock value, you could always count on a good time when one of these flicks came along. But with this fifth chapter now on the way, fans are understandably more skeptical than excited.
