We should try to stop looking at Chris Miller and Phil Lord‘s The Lego Movie as something that looks like the most expensive commercial that you would have to pay to see. For one thing the two, who brought us the first Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street, brought their signature humor to turn this seemingly large product placement movie into a hysterical stop-motion animated film involving almost a billion Lego pieces and hundreds of Lego characters ranging from the ordinary to extraordinary like Batman, a wizard, Michelangelo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, President Abraham Lincoln, and a cop who can turn from good cop to bad cop simply by switching faces. This is the perfect movie for Halloween! Like V/H/S, the sequel is a collection of short macabre stories, all depicted in the found-footage style, with an overarching story / frame narrative that takes place in between each story; and actually continues the frame narrative of the first film.
