The $11 t-shirt deal of the day over at TeeFury today is called “A Lannister Always”¦” by dylanwho and is inspired by Game Of Thrones. $1 from one of these shirts sold will go to the Best Friends Animal Society, a wonderful animal charity (one that I have been regularly supporting for years).

Penn Jillette Director's Cut

Penn Jillette is a large man with long hair often pulled back into a ponytail who’s known for the magic act he and partner Teller have been performing together for decades, among other things. One of the things Jillette has dabbled in is movies, and he’s taken to one of the various crowdfunding websites out there to secure money for a horror movie he wants to make with Adam Rifkin.

As anyone who’s contributed to a crowdfunding project such as the ones found on Kickstarter knows, there’s goodies offered for each amount you donate to further entice you to chip in. Jillette took one of these offerings to another world, by offering the signature ponytail right off the back of his head. Rifkin’s ponytail as well. For $25,000. And, as it turns out, that offer has been accepted by Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox, the makers of the hit video game series, Borderlands. Pitchford will also be an executive producer on the movie, and get lots of other goodies for his donation.

Continue reading for more on the movie, and to see Jillette’s awesome pitch to you the potential donator.

Starring Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard, Frank Grillo, Michael Nyqvist, Paula Patton, Jonah Bobo, Andrea Riseborough and Max Thieriot
Lionsgate
Theatrical Release Date: April 12, 2013
Blu-ray/DVD Release Date: September 17, 2013

First time director, Henry Alex Rubin, masters one of the most formidable difficulties in cinema with the greatest of ease and subtlety. He is able to take multiple narratives and seamlessly connect them in plausible ways in Disconnect. This weaving of narratives can be cumbersome and tackily melodramatic. Such was the case in 2005 when Crash made this storytelling popular, and a year later Babel grandly exploited the ploy to achieve artistic splendor. Each of these films was successful in their own right (Crash winning Best Picture at the Oscars and Babel receiving much critical acclaim).

After those two aforementioned films it seemed that the interlocking narrative was bound for obsolescence, following many botched attempts to replicate the magic that directors Paul Haggis and Alfonso Cuaron captured. But Mr. Rubin, working with an impeccable script crafted by Andrew Stern, resuscitates this form of narrative, attaching to it a social and domestic relevance that will undoubtedly leave viewers reeling after realizing there is a latent infection not only constantly threatening our society today but also our personal lives.

Trick 'r Treat

Michael Dougherty‘s cult horror anthology Trick “˜r Treat is a perfect film to watch each year during the Halloween season on Blu-ray or DVD while curled up on the couch. But, what would be even cooler is getting to finally see it on the big screen at a theater with fellow horror fans, especially since the film never got a theatrical release.

So, if you’re in the Los Angeles area on October 28, 2013, then here’s your chance to do just that: Legendary Pictures and Beyond Fest will present a one-night-only theatrical screening of Trick “˜r Treat at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, which will be followed by a panel featuring director Michael Dougherty as well as several members of the cast.
