“All this has happened before. All this will happen again.” The above quote from Ronald D. Moore’s Battlestar Galactica recurred in my mind as I read Robot God Akamatsu — a graphic novel dealing with the impact of an ancient, giant robot on humanity. Created by writer James Biggie and illustrator Frankie B. Washington with dialogue from Josh Van Reyk, this love letter to Mecha fiction will leave you wondering how often history repeats itself. Millennia ago, the city of Atlantis was protected by the giant Robot God Aka-Mat’Xu. As monstrous beasts called Kaiju wreaked havoc upon the city, Aka-Mat’Xu would normally save the day; however, Aka-Mat’Xu and his brother-god, Balan Uru had been at war with each other for quite some time. Their feud was unleashed on the people of Atlantis and ended with the city’s destruction and Aka-Mat’Xu’s robot form was lost in the depths of the sea.

Something wicked this way comes, and it augers ill-portent for a young Hellboy in Hellboy: The Midnight Circus. The previous story about the young Hellboy proved to be rather touching, and this one evokes a similar feeling. There’s something inherently sad about a child seeking to belong, to have a family, especially when it’s an orphaned child (which Hellboy is, demonic origin notwithstanding). Without spoiling too much, we briefly revisit the story of Pinocchio, whose situation is made poetically similar to Hellboy’s, and from there, descend into a nightmarish, midnight circus, operated by characters who clearly have a strong knowledge of, and seemingly cryptic connections to, our young hero. Was it all a dream? Was it real?

Batman vs. Superman will lay the foundation for the Justice League. Just as its title suggests, Batman will be introduced into the DC Cinematic Universe that Zack Snyder has created. Tiny Easter Eggs were laid throughout the Man of Steel, but could we expect to see a female superhero like Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman? One Warner Bros. executive suggests that she won’t appear. After all the troubles of getting a Wonder Woman film off the ground – we all remember how DC treated Joss Whedon’s treatment of the heroine – what could be the problem? Surely it’s not the solo Catwoman movie or Elektra? But a film like Batman vs. Superman would be a great proving ground for getting a solo female superhero movie into production, so why not just do something as simple as introduce Wonder Woman into the film? Hit the jump to find out.

| Watch Jimmy Fallon & Alec Baldwin In This Hilarious 80’s Cop Show Skit (Video)
Alec Baldwin made an appearance this week on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to promote his latest project, the documentary Seduced and Abandoned. While on the program, host Jimmy Fallon reminisced with Baldwin about their supposed days starring in an 80’s cop show called Point Pleasant Police Department where the duo played a pair of New Jersey cops. Fallon then goes on to “roll clips” from the show, which turns out to be messy and hilarious. Watch the video of the scenes here below. If you remember Fallon from his days on Saturday Night Live, then you know that some of his funniest stuff was when he had trouble keeping in character. With the way the “Point Pleasant Police Department” sketches were set up, there was no way Fallon was going to make it through it all without laughing. Kudos to Baldwin, who somehow managed to keep it together through this the silliness.
