When I think of 80’s action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, I think of two things: The movie where he fights the guy who feels no pain and manages to defeat him, and his awesome splits, like in that the movie where he jumps up into a split over a kitchen counter. It seems like the 53-year-old actor Belgian martial arts actor hasn’t let age slow him down, as he apparently can still perform those epic splits. JCVD recently did a video for Volvo where he does a split between two moving Volvo semi-trucks. It’s pretty sick! Watch the video, titled “Epic Split,” here below.

| ‘Doctor Who: The Night of the Doctor’ Prequel Minisode Explored |

Yesterday saw the online release of The Night of the Doctor, a mini-episode prequel to the upcoming Doctor Who special The Day of the Doctor. There was a lot of secrecy surrounding this minisode, so we left out any spoiler-talk regarding it when the video was released. But, today’s a new day, and the news and photos from the mini-episode have littered the internet, so it’s time to take off your blindfolds. There’s been enough time now for every Whovian to have seen the 7-minute video (and if you’re not a Whovian, the “surprise” will be lost on you anyway). So, if you haven’t watch it yet, I’ve included the video here below for your viewing pleasure. With that, it’s time to talk more about what we saw in The Night of the Doctor, and more importantly, who we saw in it and what they’re doing there! Doctor Who showrunner and writer Steven Moffat recently spoke to the BBC about The Night of the Doctor, and BBC America’s Anglophenia blog has posted a “Making Sense of The Night of the Doctor” feature, which goes into detail about the prequel.

| ‘Harlem Street Singer: The Reverend Gary Davis Story’ Screenings Coming To NY and Other Cities |

Harlem Street Singer: The Reverend Gary Davis Story tells the story of Gary Davis, one of the most underrated musicians of our time. Though Davis has had a huge influence on many well-known musicians, including Bob Weir and Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead, Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane, David Bromberg, Bob Dylan, Woody Mann, Dave Van Ronk, and Townes van Zandt, his story has gone virtually unknown until now. Davis, who became blind as an infant, was born in South Carolina and worked his way up to Harlem in New York City where he was ordained as a Baptist minister and began preaching and playing on street corners. He was a master guitar player with a unique finger picking style and was a blues, ragtime and gospel music virtuoso. His guitar playing was complemented by a soulful voice that defined feeling. The first official screening of the documentary was back in January 2013 in Boston, MA, but now screenings have been added in New York, NY; St. Louis, MO; Anchorage, AK; and the UK, for November and December as part of several film festivals – info for those is here below.
