Groundbreaking visual effects house Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) has released a video of some of their work on this year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
ILM, which was founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas, created nearly 900 visual effects for the Marvel sequel, including the helicarriers and their hanger; battle scenes; Washington, D.C. locations, and the Triskelion building complex on Roosevelt Island, as well as digital doubles details for Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie). According to ILM, much of their work can be seen in the third act of the film.
Check out here below the video representing a small sample of ILM’s work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
It’s a short video, but these samples are enough to blow you away. These guys are masters at visual effects. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which tops my lists of favorite movies of 2014, is out now on Blu-ray and DVD.
From ILM:
We are proud to present a sampling of of ILM’s visual effects work for Marvel’s blockbuster hit, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo.
This reel represents a small sampling of the nearly 900 visual effects shots ILM contributed to the film created by an international crew of 300+.
The bulk of ILM’s work appears in the film’s third act and consists of the helicarrier’s massive underwater hanger, their ensuing battle, and the helicarriers themselves inside and out, sprawling digital Washington D.C. and Rosslyn environments including the Triskelion building complex on Roosevelt Island, highly detailed digital doubles for Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie).
We hope you enjoy this look behind the effects work.
