Sony Pictures Classics has just released the first trailer for Woody Allen‘s Irrational Man starring Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Jamie Blackley, and Parker Posey. In the film, Phoenix plays Abe Lucas, a habitually gloomy philosophy professor who can’t write, can’t teach, and “couldn’t remember the reason for living, and when I did it wasn’t convincing.” But when a young student (Stone) attends one of his classes, he finds new purpose in life. Based on the trailer, the film pretty much uses the same tropes and plot devices Allen has used before in his previous films. But Posey’s character could put a small twist on things. Check out the trailer below.

The thought of 21 Jump Street and Men In Black crossing over may have sounded like a crazy idea at first, but those leaked e-mails have confirmed such talks are being discussed. Matthew Vaughn‘s Kingsman: The Secret Service is one of the sleeper hits of 2015. Because the film was scheduled for release in February, it could have been a box office bomb. Instead it has gone on to gross $401 million worldwide. So obviously, a sequel was in order. According to a report from The Wrap, there are unconfirmed rumors that Fox is working on making that happen. The studio has yet to make an official announcement, but the Hollywood Trade says there will be a Kingsman sequel. There is no word yet on what the film could be about. Vaughn has expressed an interest in revealing the American Branch of the Kingsman, but that also has yet to be confirmed.

Marvel and DC have always had a comic book rivalry, but when it comes to their films, the former always upstages the latter. Since 2008, Marvel has consistantly delivered one successful hit after another, and that success increased tenfold when Disney acquired Marvel, expanding the brand. They already have their plots mapped out until 2028. Warner Bros have pretty much locked themselves in with DC, and have just started to launch their DC Cinematic Universe with Man of Steel. Though the film was a mild success, we will see what the studio has in store for us with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Beyond that, the studios’ future for the DC Cinematic Universe is still very much unclear. Between directors coming and going, and multiple writers signing on for competition scripts, WB looks like they are making things up for the DC Cinematic Universe as they go, which in the end makes them look like they are struggling to catch up to Marvel Studios. And now insiders and reps are confirming that notion. More on the story below.
