Justice League won’t have the standard build-up to the team-up we’ve all be expecting. Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman were already introduced in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Wonder Woman, but Justice League will be the first time that we will be seeing Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash. Of course, we can find out all about these characters through a simple internet search, but the film will probably interpret their origins differently. So, through a series of promotional videos, we will learn about the heroes that make up the Justice League in the weeks leading up to the film’s release.
Also, since Danny Elfmanwill be composing the score for Justice League, you can hear a sample of his music below.
In the Aquaman video, we hear Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) describe Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) as “a strange man, who comes from the sea,” and joke to him about the rumor that he could talk to fish. The video shows snippets of the gold and green suit, with Momoa explaining Arthur’s struggles to be both a man and an Atlantean. He adds that though he is the heir to the throne, he isn’t the king yet. As the video shows some more from that roundtable, we get to see the chemistry between the entire cast. Momoa even recalls his favorite moment, where he got to surf the Batmobile.
As for Cyborg (Ray Fisher), Batman tells him that “it is time to discover the hero” that he is. One of the most interesting things about this particular video is we get to see a full shot of him holding the mother box, which is the macguffin that is used to save his body and turns him into the technopath hero who is also half-man and half-machine, but all hero. It appears that the film will follow Vic’s journey to being a hero as we hear the actor talk about how his character went from college athlete suffering a catastrophic accident to full-fledged hero when he is exposed to alien techno-organic matter. Like the Aquaman video, we get to see a small description of his powers, which includes being able to interface with any technology and turn his entire body into a weapon.
Again, these videos are just small vignettes taken from a larger recording.
As for the score, we’ve known that Danny Elfman would be composing the music for quite some time. He was behind the theme for Tim Burton’s Batman, which is long considered to be the most iconic superhero theme. Obviously, things have changed since then, with Hans Zimmer working on the score The Dark Knight trilogy, but also the Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with Junkie XL. Rupert Gregson-Williams gave us that bombastic guitar riff as Wonder Woman’s theme. Now, it is Elfman who will be doing the same for Justice League. He will be replacing Junkie XL, who left the project a while back. Below is just the first track, titled “Hero’s Theme.”
Justice League also stars Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jeremy Irons, and J.K. Simmons. It opens in theaters on November 17, 2017.
