Avengers: Infinity War Black Order

We all know that the cast of Avengers: Infinity War is big. But it still manages to find a way to increase its numbers. While we knew that there would be at least 22 heroes in the film, we didn’t know about who would be playing Thanos’ Black Order. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo had kept the identities of the actors a secret for some time. But now that is over. In a new interview, the Russos confirm Carrie Coon (Fargo Season 3, The Leftovers), Terry Notary (Planet of the Apes, The Hobbit trilogy), and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor have joined the cast as Thanos’ Black Order. Find out who they will play in the full story here below.

In an interview with The Radio Times, the Russos said Coon would be playing Proxima Midnight. According to the interview, she performed both the voice and the motion-capture for the film.

Vaughan-Lawlor is going to play the telekinetic villain Ebony Maw, while Notary takes the role of Cull Obsidian, who is a largely silent character.

In the comics, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, and Cull Obsidian are all members of the Black Order, Thanos’ elite guard. Proxmia Midnight is the lone female member of the group, who wields a powerful spear that can project poisonous energy. She is also the wife of fellow Order member Corvus Glaive. More on him a little bit later.

Ebony Maw is the telekinetic member of the group. While not much is revealed about him, we have seen him in action. He’s the one who was presumably giving Doctor Strange the shush treatment in the last trailer.

Cull Obsidian is one of the larger members of the group, who possess incredible strength and unbreakable skin. In the comics, he was known as Black Dwarf but renamed Cull Obsidian. Anthony Russo said that the character doesn’t have much of a voice, while Joe Russo added that he did do the voice, “but he’s one of the most gifted movement specialists in the world right now.”

That leaves Corvus Glave. Corvus is another powerful member of the Black Order, who also wields a spear that gives him immortality and allows him to survive anything, including being obliterated. However, that spear has to remain intact, otherwise, Corvus will die. The Russo Brothers have yet to reveal the identity of the actor who plays Corvus, so your guess is as good as ours. But some speculate that Game Of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage will be the person. He was one of the new actors to sign on for an unnamed role, so it makes sense that it would be Corvus.

Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters on April 27, 2018.
