This year will see the release of yet another Star Wars movie. But it won’t be for the main saga. It will be for the spinoffs. The first was Rogue One. Now, the latest spinoff will center on Han Solo’s start as a smuggler.
Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as the title character made iconic by Harrison Ford. Directed by Ron Howard, the newest TV spot proves that this spinoff will be a lot of fun. Check it out below.
What the TV spot does that the first two trailers failed to do is put Solo in the spotlight. Donald Glover stole a lot of the trailer with his smooth velvet charm and gave plenty of scenes to chew on. But this ad has a lot of scenes with Solo in it. There is even some banter between Solo and Chewbacca, a relationship that will prove to be very important in the original trilogy and The Force Awakens.
And despite all the behind-the-scenes issues that Solo has had, the film still looks like it is going to be a lot of fun to watch. There is going to be plenty of heart-racing scenes. Whether it is on The Conveyex, the roller coaster-like train, or the pursuit between Tie Fighters and the Millennium Falcon.
It’s important to note that Solo: A Star Wars Story will focus on Han’s start as a reckless hotshot smuggler. We will see him build that reputation for having a sarcastic wit, as well as make new relationships with Chewbacca and Lando. So while we know Ford will forever be Han Solo, it will be interesting to see if fans will accept Ehrenreich’s performance as the character who will eventually become the one played by Ford.
Solo: A Star Wars Story also stars Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, and Paul Bettany.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy.
