Suicide Squad Header Image

After over a year of steadily-building pre-release hype that had even beings living on distant planets aware of its release, Suicide Squad – the latest potential blockbuster from Warner Bros.’ cinematic DC Universe headlined by some of their most notorious supervillains – is here. Early reviews have ranged from mixed at best to tear-inducing negative at worst and as a result, members of the film’s cast and crew, including writer/director David Ayer and co-star Cara Delevingne, have been put on the defensive during promotional interviews.

Phantasm

strong>Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm series, one of the greatest and most enduring horror franchises of them all, has terrified millions of fans around the world and given them an iconic villain to forever haunt their nightmares in the form of the glowering Tall Man, played to perfection by the late Angus Scrimm. Avengers: Infinity War Now One Film

Since it was first announced in October 2014, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War was intended to be the company’s biggest release to date. Intentions, much like the best of plans, tend to change over time.

Nearly two years have passed and what was initially slated to be a two-part feature that would close out Marvel’s Phase Three line-up with each installment released a year apart in May of 2018 and 2019, it appears that Infinity War will no longer be split in half, as confirmed recently by Disney. Instead it will now be a single film, with what was originally to be the second part of the epic that would unite the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe in glorious battle against the Mad Titan Thanos reconfigured as an untitled Avengers project. Release dates for the two films have not changed though.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 MST3K

Last November, Shout! Factory, which owns the rights to the cult classic comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000, teamed up with the show’s creator and first host Joel Hodgson to launch a Kickstarter campaign to fund a reboot of MST3K. Their target fundraising goal was set at $2 million, but the campaign ultimately became the highest-funded film and TV crowdfunding effort in history by raising a grand total of $5.7 million, allowing them to fund the production of 14 new episodes with an all-star squadron of geek icons and comedy geniuses working in front of and behind the camera.

On Saturday at a panel for the MST3K revival at San Diego Comic-Con, the announcement was made that the new show will be coming exclusively to Netflix as part of a $5 billion investment from the film and television streaming giant in original programming, which also includes their Marvel Studios series and the recent Stranger Things.
