In true Bruce Wayne fashion, DC Entertainment, alongside all of Warner Bros. Entertainment, have announced the extension of their philanthropic arm to aid the Horn of Africa with the We Can Be Heroes initiative. DC is actually doing something that’s really important with this. Those of us in the public see companies announce several goodwill initiatives all the time, but very rarely do they offer anything out of their profits or funding — instead, they simply use their names to bring attention to problems across the globe. They talk about a problem in a small country or the specific area of a continent, and expect you to give your money with no donations from them at all. They simple take their contribution as bringing out the information. But this is making an actual difference. For all donations made through We Can Be Heroes, DC and Warner will match each donation 100 percent. Sure companies do this all the time also, but as a cynic, I’m pleased to see this take place. But that’s just at launch. We Can Be Heroes is doing much more to help the area.

| DC Entertainment Unveils All New Company Logo and Initiative |

DC Entertainment has unveiled a brand new company logo and “identity” to grace the comics and collections of DC Comics, Vertigo, and Mad Magazine.
DC’s new logo features a “peel back” effect that is meant to give the impression of turning a page and opening yourself up to new entertainment. The D is represented by the first page and the C is placed underneath. To me, though, it comes off a little bit like peeling off a sticker which does not exactly convey the message that was intended. Either way, though, this new logo and identity will bring all of the products under DC’s publishing wing together under the DC Entertainment title. For example, if you’re reading a Sandman digital comic, it will have the words DC Entertainment somewhere that will let you know that DC is behind it, not just Vertigo.

Hey digital comics lovers, you’ve heard of Bone, right? Well, if you have and you haven’t read it yet, I know that you’ve been meaning to read this epic comic for quite some time. How do I know that? Because I’m one of you. Sure, I’ve read some of it, but it’s been a very long time since I have and I barely remember what I read. So, this sale is for us. We can read the entire series for only 99 cents an issue and a per-collection price ranging from $3.99 to $5.99. Considering Bone‘s extensive length, I’d say that’s quite a deal.
