Guys, seriously, I love Florence + The Machine, I’m listening to their MTV Unplugged album right now, and it’s just so good. Right now is a really good time for a fan of female vocalists. Anyway, I know that has nothing to do with what we’re supposed to be talking about right now, and that’s fine, but you should know that Daniel Bryan was robbed on Sunday and he should have taken home the championship! What are we talking about again? Oh right, comics. Sure, there are comics coming out this week, but for the life of me, I can’t think of anything that I’d rather read more than Batman Incorporated, so that’s what I’ll be talking about at length, while Chris talks about some new comics, some new old comics, and some that are in between! So, strap in to your seat belts because I’m about to take you on a nice long ride where I talk a whole lot about Batman. No backseat drivers! Only The GoD List!

There are a great deal of comic books that are released on a monthly basis, so many in fact that some of the best of the lot can fall through the cracks of hardcore comic book fans’ pull lists because, quite frankly, you can’t buy everything. So, it’s working with that understanding that I am providing you with a somewhat consistent installment of Comics You Should Be Reading. And when I think of a comic that everyone should reading right now, like this week, well there’s only one comic that counts: Batman Incorporated #1 by Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham.

Yeah, this is the comic that counts. It’s the return of Grant Morrison to one of his best runs with one of the best current artists in the business at his side, and of course I’m talking about Chris Burnham. I’m pretty much a diehard Grant Morrison fan and while I don’t love everything that I’ve read from him (I’m looking at you, Joe The Barbarian), I at least give his comics more than a fair chance. When he was announced as the lead writer for Action Comics, I was ecstatic. All Star Superman is easily one of my most favorite comics of all time, so Morrison writing Superman is something I get excited about, naturally.

Dark Horse Comics does a great deal to show they love comics as much as many readers do. One of those ways is by collecting material like Creepy, Eerie, Crime Does Not Pay, Journey Into The Unknown, Silver Streak and Forbidden Worlds, which led to the massive censorship of the medium with the Comics Code. I’m a huge fan of the pre-Comics Code books, and Geeks Of Doom was lucky enough to get an exclusive look at several pages of the upcoming second volume of the Crime Does Not Pay Archives, which we’ve provided here below for your viewing pleasure.

The book looks really cool, and if you’re into crime comics like Stumptown, Gotham Central, Queen and Country, and the many other works from Greg Rucka, you should really check out where the genre started with books like Crime Does Not Pay. And speaking of Rucka, he actually has written the forward to this book. So, if you love crime comics, pre-Comics Code books, or just comics in general, make sure to get your hands on a copy of these archives.

Look, I don’t care what anyone else tells you today, there is a great wealth of coming comics that are sure to blow your mind out of your skull. Sure, there may be some faltering alongside a lot of the great, but really, there’s good things to be seen and read. It’s with consideration to this concept that you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have The GoD List, our weekly look into all of the comics that are coming out. It’s like, all killer and no filler without the Sum 41. Books like The Manhattan Projects, Saga, Saucer Country, Locke & Key, Adventure Time, The Shade, and Conan are all coming out this week and those are more than enough to get excited about. Oh, you want to know why you should be excited about these books? Well dear friend, you’re just going to have to get your fingers prepared for clicking, and your eyes prepared for reading, because we’re about to get into that business right about… now.
