| Sony Could Mimic Marvel Cinematic Universe With ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’
If you told me four years ago that a movie like The Avengers would be made, I would have laughed in your face. To create a film based on a team like that would require a lot of time and would need major financing. So instead of just making a straight-up film based on The Avengers, Marvel went forward with focusing on the individuals who make up The Avengers, eventually leading up to the team-up. Warner tried to go with just with a straight-up film based on the Justice League, but with problems with financing and the writer’s strike, the film was put on hold for a couple of years. Seeing the successful formula that Marvel has created, WB might want to replicate that with Batman entering a reboot phase after The Dark Knight Rises.

| SDCC 2011: ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Panel, Footage Description & Video Of Andrew Garfield Surprise |
 |

Unfortunately for The Amazing Spider–Man, their trailer leaked a tad early, leading Columbia Pictures to just release it for all to see (unfortunately for them, maybe, but good for those of us excited about the movie!). Surely if the trailer hadn’t have leaked they could have wowed everyone at Comic–Con with it before releasing it, but they still were sure to bring a little something extra to show off. The panel kicked off with said trailer, this time in 3D to add a little bit new to the mix, before someone dressed in a low–budget Spider–Man costume came up to the microphone going on about how excited they were to be there. After a bit, the person removes their mask to reveal that it’s the new Spidey himself, Andrew Garfield, who then talks about how much the superhero means to him and how much it changed his life growing up. Garfield then introduced the rest of the panel””his co–star and female lead, Emma Stone, director Marc Webb, and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach“”before removing the costume and joining them. Co–star Rhys Ifans was the surprise guest later in the panel. Keep reading for new footage descriptions and to check out some pictures from the panel. You can also see a video of Garfield’s speech after he revealed himself as the costumed fan!

| DreamWorks Moving Forward With 3-D ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Project |
 |

A new movie based on the Japanese manga franchise Ghost in the Shell has been talked about for a while now, but it appears that DreamWorks is ready to give it another big go. It has been announced that Laeta Kalogridis has been hired to write the script, and that the live-action movie will be filmed entirely in 3-D with Avi Arad, Ari Arad among the producers. Ghost in the Shell is a highly-futuristic story about a cyborg named Motoko Kusanagi who works for a Japanese Public Safety division known as Section 9. She is almost completely composed of mechanical components with only her brain remaining organic. The title is something of an allegorical reference to whether her soul (ghost) exists within her shell of a synthetic body — Motoko often even wonders if her memories are also manufactured and nothing about her is real. The character has been used in many different ways, so it’s not known if DreamWorks plans to create their own story based on the manga or if they may remake one of the pre-existing anime movies.
