Wolverine

Losing previous director Matthew Vaughn – possibly to Star Wars Episode VII – has not slowed down development on X-Men: Days of Future Past one bit. Shortly after Vaughn’s departure Bryan Singer, a producer on the Vaughn-directed X-Men: First Class, signed on to direct his first X-Men film since 2003’s X2. Then just yesterday Singer confirmed that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen would be re-entering the franchise as the older Professor X and his friend and nemesis Magneto.

One of the remaining question marks surrounding the casting of Days of Future Past would be whether or not Hugh Jackman would also be joining the ever-growing ensemble cast. Wolverine

A possible teaser poster for next summer’s The Wolverine has leaked today. You can check it out here below.

The image was supposedly taken from the office of director James Mangold. If it proves to be authentic the poster will confirm that the next movie is taking Marvel’s ageless, adamantium-clawed mutant to Japan for a storyline adapted from the early 1980’s comic miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller that will pit Logan against ninjas, samurai, and a lost love. It’s a stark and powerful teaser with Wolverine’s trademark claws slashing through the image of the flag and the tagline “Rising Soon” playing on the nation’s identity as the Land of the Rising Sun.

Wolverine

It’s being reported that Christopher McQuarrie has been hired to write the screenplay for the sequel this year’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The project is currently being developed by Hugh Jackman, and as expected, it will be taking the temperamental bladed mutant off to Japan.

The movie has always been expected to follow the Samurai storyline that Wolverine embarked on, but the pitch that McQuarrie made was likely the best take on that particular storyline. The tale would be based on the Frank Miller and Chris Claremont story, The Samurai, in which Wolverine goes to Japan and trains as a Samurai while also working on his anger issues.
