I can’t remember when it was the last time I read The Sixth Gun. But, after reading The Sixth Gun #28, I might be picking up another copy sooner rather than later. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this issue.

Writer Cullen Bunn gives us a pretty great little mystery here. Granted, I had almost NO clue as to what’s going on, because this isn’t a title that I read on a regular basis, but I was able to discern the story and what was going on pretty quickly. In this issue there’s an A and a B plot which eventually merge together to make one great big shock ending. The one problem I had with this book was that I really couldn’t tell who the “good” guys and “bad” guys were. I had a good idea, but I wasn’t 100 percent certain.

The Sixth Gun

We reported a while ago that Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse was planning to bring the Oni Press comic book series The Sixth Gun to TV, and now we can report that, according to Deadline, NBC has officially ordered a pilot for the series. This is a good next step for the series which follows the adventures of Drake Sinclair and Becky Montcrief as they travel the wild west, trying to keep six supernatural pistols out of the hands of those who would use the guns to end the world.

The next step for the series will be assembling the cast and crew and getting the pilot on film. The Sixth Gun will be another in a growing number of comic properties coming to television. The pilot for the Marvel comics S.H.E.I.L.D. show for ABC is filming now. We’re still waiting to see what the status is on FX’s Powers show (based on the Image comic from Brian Bendis and Mike Oeming) which has gone through a number of issues, but still seems to be very much alive. There’s also the rumored Chew show (based on another Image comic by John Layman and Rob Guillory) set to air on Showtime.

The city calm, and the night is dark, but there’s a gloom on the horizon of the newly fallen snow. Well, chances are you’ve got a Batman fan in your life on some level whether they be hardcore fans, new comers or simply a casual gent or lady that enjoys the movies. Well, have I got some last minute, easy as pecan pie solutions for you! Below are several gift ideas that can be presented to your loved ones. One thing that should be mentioned about the below list is that pretty much nothing needs deep understanding of the character’s history. These are pretty safe gifts for any Batfan that you may know, no matter how hardcore. Anyway, let’s get on with this gift guide, shall we?

ABSOLUTE EDITIONS

The thing about Absolute Editions is that, even if I personally don’t like the story, I want the Absolute Edition. Does that make sense? Let me explain. Absolute Editions are presented in the giant hardcover that basically is the same size as the original art, but it’s completely colored and printed on extremely high quality paper. So, any imaginable detail in the art can be experienced, and usually only the most high profile stories with incredibly talented creative teams get the Absolute treatment. Plus, in these editions, there are loads of bonus features that liken them to the most ultimate editions of movie releases. So, with that, let’s move on to the two Batman specific ones on this list.
