James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad will be a soft reboot. Some of the cast from the original like Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller will return to reprise their respective roles. Others like Idris Elba will play new characters that were never before seen in a DCEU franchise.

Now, Task Force X might be adding some more muscle to the group. Literally. According to new reports, John Cena is in talks to join the team. More on the report below.

Birds Of Prey image 18

Production has just wrapped for Birds Of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) – yes, that’s the actual title of the film starring Margot Robbie, who is reprising her DC Expanded Universe role as Harley Quinn. In the upcoming film, Harley Quinn finds herself teaming up with a band of DC female heroes to fight Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). Though details are still limited, this will be the first time that there has been an all-female superhero ensemble from a major studio. Check out the photo from the set here below.

The Dark Tower Idris Elba as Roland Deschain

The fact that we are getting James Gunn films from both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DCEU is a gift. After the director was fired by Disney on their third Guardian of the Galaxy film – but before he was subsequently reinstated – Gunn was brought in to write and direct The Suicide Squad. The new film, which was considered to be a soft reboot at the time, is not loosely using the term, as characters and actors from David Ayer‘s original film are returning. Jai Courtney will be back to play Captain Boomerang, and now Viola Davis will return as Amanda Waller.

However, Idris Elba, who was tapped to replace Will Smith as Deadshot, is no longer being considered for the role of the assassin with deadly accuracy. More on the report here below.

Captain Boomerang

Before James Gunn can sail through space with the Guardians of the Galaxy for the third time, he’s going to be directing a different kind of misfits in the DC Extended Universe film The Suicide Squad. And though the film is being considered a reboot, with actors like the departing Will Smith being replaced by Idris Elba as Deadshot and other actors like Margot Robbie being rumored to return, it looks like the filmmaker will be mixing in some memorable rogues with very obscure criminals.

According to new reports, Jai Courtney is said be coming back to play as Captain Boomerang. At least that’s what he’s telling us. Find out what he had to say about his “return” below.

Distributor: Warner Bros.
Rated PG-13 | Minutes: 132
Release Date: April 5, 2019

The DCEU isn’t the dark and brooding cinematic superhero universe that you first knew when it was launched way back in 2013. Since then it has gone through a series of improvements that have helped build it to become a much better superhero cinematic universe. And now director David F. Sandberg‘s Shazam! starring Asher Angel and Zachary Levi as Billy Batson and the title character, will continue the momentum that was first started by Wonder Woman and then continued with Aquaman.

See, Wonder Woman has this incredible message about female empowerment, while Aquaman surges by centering on a person accepting the life of coming from two different worlds. Each of these films had their own distinct voice while also being superhero films. As for Shazam!, audiences will see a coming of age superhero film that is not only a great origins story but speaks about the importance of foster families. My full review below.
