Air Date: Saturday, May 9th, 2015, 9:00pm Outlander last week found the star-swept couple in a very tense situation in their own home at Lallybroch. “The Watch,” kind of like the Scottish Mafia, came to the home to get some dinner, and were suspicious of Jaime (Sam Heughan) from the start. Of course, hothead that he is, he took exception to them being crass, setting a wagon of hay on fire, and generally being asses. The main guy was not so bad. MacQuarrie (Douglas Henshall), who recognized a solid man in Jaime, so much so that he did not bat an eye when Jaime (really Ian – Steven Cree), killed a hired hand who recognized Jaime and the fat price on his head. The men went out on a mission. Only Ian, limping home because his fake leg was missing and the guy who helped him came back. Jaime and MacQuarrie had been captured.

Air Date: Saturday, April 25th, 2015, 9:00pm Let’s recap last week’s Outlander, before we get to this week’s review. Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Geillis (Lotte Verbeek) were defendants at a witch trial, but were really not allowed to present a defense, to no one’s surprise. Ned Gowan (Bill Paterson) did try though. It got to a point where he told the women he could really only save Claire if she renounces Geillis. She refuses of course. Geillis says 1968 to Claire, reveals her smallpox vaccine scar to the crowd, and shouts to the mob that she is the witch. Claire was whipped until my hero, I mean her hero, Jaime (Sam Heughan) comes and saves her. I really hope Laoghaire (Nell Hudson) gets hers for arranging this in order to get Jaime for herself.

Air Date: Saturday, April 18th, 2015, 9:00pm Let’s recap last week’s Outlander, before we get to this week’s review. Previously on Outlander, Jaime (Sam Heughan) is hopeful the Duke of Sandringham (Simon Callow) can help clear his name, but Claire (Caitriona Balfe) knows from other husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) that the Duke is a secret friend of BlackJack Randall. She goes without Jaime’s knowledge to use that leverage. Claire finds a baby left for the “fairies” and mourns. Geillis (Lotte Verbeek) reveals she is having Dougal’s (Graham McTavish) baby. Good thing both their spouses “accidentally” died. Colum (Gary Lewis) squashes that love connection by banishing Dougal, sending Jaime to accompany him. Laoghaire (Nell Hudson) sets Claire up so she would be arrested for witchcraft along with Geillis.

Air Date: Saturday, April 11th, 2015, 9:00pm The review of Outlander 1.10 “By The Pricking Of My Thumbs” synopsis is coming up, but first, a recap of last week’s episode, Outlander 1.9. Last week, may have been hard for some feminists to bear. Jaime (Sam Heughan) rescued Claire (Caitriona Balfe) from Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) at literally the point of no return (as far as rape goes). It wasn’t the almost rape that feminists would object to (although bad – yes). It was the spanking – and not the fun kind. Claire had been trying to return to the 1940s after seeing the stones of Craigh na Dun in the distance. She heard Frank (also Tobias Menzies) and he heard her through time, but she got captured. Jaime rescued her at the expense of danger to his men, after she deliberately disobeyed an order. They had a screaming fight, which was resolved, but he had to beat her with a belt on the ass. It was expected in his culture. She froze him out of bed in anger for a while. He loves her so much, he swore a blood oath he would never hurt her like that again. The last scene of that episode was equivalent to soft porn, but they did make up.
