The Dark Tower Image

Once upon a time, there were big, big plans for an adaptation of Stephen King‘s book series The Dark Tower. A trilogy of movies, joined by two seasons of an accompanying television series. But sometimes things don’t quite work out how they were planned.

We did eventually get a movie, but it fared poorly at the box office and even worse with critics. But the good news for fans of the books is that there is still a TV series in the works. The two just aren’t tied together anymore. The series is set up at Amazon, and now it appears that they have found their Gunslinger and Man in Black.

Frank Miller's Sin City

Our time in Basin City might not be over just yet. It’s being reported that a TV series based on Frank Miller‘s comic Sin City is now being developed.

The TV series is being developed by The Weinstein Company and Dimension, based on a take from writer Glen Mazzara. Mazzara created TV series like Crash and the show based on The Omen, Damien. He’s also the former showrunner of The Walking Dead, and wrote and produced episodes of The Shield, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, Hawthorne, and more.

Damien 110-05

Damien
Season 1 Episode 10: “Ave Satani”
Directed by Nick Copus
Written by Glen Mazzara
Created by Glen Mazzara
Starring Bradley James, Barbara Hershey, Megalyn EK, Omid Abtahi, Scott Wilson, David Meunier
A&E
Air Date: Monday, May 9th, 2016, 10pm

“Ave Satani” was the name of the Oscar nominated original song (sang in Latin) from the 1976 film, The Omen, upon which the Damien series is based. It is a fitting title for the season’s final episode, as it seems Damien Thorn has embraced his inner Antichrist. Sister Greta’s attempted exorcism last week was met with limited success, as he pulled himself out of a shallow grave and turned the Megiddo dagger on her. Damien (Bradley James) has the mark of the devil, and is constantly surrounded by mysterious deaths. Despite Detective Shay (David Meunier) being convinced of his involvement, and apparent high ranking acolytes in his stead, Damien has maintained an almost childlike innocence, unwilling to be a part of the evil that shrouds him. He has watched his ex be swallowed in a construction site accident, and long time friends like John Lyons (Scott Wilson) are in cahoots with the obsessed Ann Rutledge (Barbara Hershey). Even his closest friends don’t know where to stand. Tonight, Damien will make his final choice and perhaps make the ultimate sacrifice.

Spoilers ahead.

Damien 109-06

Damien
Season 1 Episode 9: “The Devil You Know”
Directed by Jennifer Lynch
Written by K.C. Perry & Glen Mazzara
Created by Glen Mazzara
Starring Bradley James, Barbara Hershey, Megalyn EK, Omid Abtahi, Scott Wilson, David Meunier
A&E
Air Date: Monday, May 2nd, 2016, 10pm

Last week’s Damien was maybe my favorite episode of the season. Charles Powell (Joe Doyle) was killing in Damien’s name. Damien (Bradley James) made it clear he wanted nothing to do with the potential of being the Antichrist, and beat Powell nearly to death. It was another acolyte, his psychiatrist, who finished Powell off in a rather bloody finale. More bodies on the pile surrounding Damien Thorn, and Detective Shay (David Meunier) is feeling the heat”¦ literally. Almost burned alive in his car while following Damien, he has been attacked by dogs, and had his son threatened at home. How far is Shay willing to go to find answers? Speaking of questions and answers, Amani (Omid Abtahi) figured out that his new hookup Veronica (Melanie Scrofano) is actually Ann Rutledge’s daughter, and was scoping out Damien’s place on her behalf. Veronica might be dead after messing with the wrong nun. With only 2 episodes left in their first season, let’s see how unholy Damien can get!

Spoilers below.

Damien
Season 1 Episode 8: “Here Is Wisdom”
Directed by Tim Andrew
Written by Sarah Thorp
Created by Glen Mazzara
Starring Bradley James, Barbara Hershey, Megalyn EK, Omid Abtahi, Scott Wilson, David Meunier
A&E
Air Date: Monday, April 25th, 2016, 10pm

Last week on Damien, we learned some eerie details into Damien’s youth. As an adult he seemed surprisingly well adjusted… well, before he learned he may be the Antichrist. He was a decorated war photographer, had friends in high places, and had real actual friends and people who cared for him. But Detective Shay (David Meunier) has dug up some interesting information about him. A boarding school buddy, Cray Marquand (Cody Ray Thompson) told of Damien’s proclivities towards the strange and dangerous behavior, including a secret organization and an initiation gone awry where his roommate was left burned over the majority of his body. The burn victim, Charles Powell (Joe Doyle) doesn’t take kindly to being talked about, and sought out Marquand to brutally murder him in gym shower. Who is, and what is the real Damien? These are the pivotal questions going forward.

Spoilers ahead.
