| The GoD List: Comics For December 11, 2013 |
|
Each and every week, I, “Dasher” Henchman 21, and “Dancer” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the weeks of December 4, 2013 and December 11, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here. Well, it looks like the comic companies out there don’t want you buying gifts for anyone else because they have dropped a metric crap-ton of must-buy issues and collections this week. Now, you could choose to hold off on buying these or maybe give them to others during this holiday season, but we all know you’re going to buy these now and buy them for yourself. And you know what, I will make no judgments because I’m going to do the same thing myself, so who am I to cast stones? I’m Henchman 21, that’s who, and I can cast stones if I want, but I won’t. Because I love you, my dear readers. And because I love you so much, we’re going to add in some picks from last week as well now that we’re over our Thanksgiving coma. So, join us as we spread some holiday cheer with a gingerbread-spiced The GoD List!

Cover Price: $2.99 Hellboy in Hell #1 was the first Hellboy comic that I’ve ever read. Ever. I have nothing against the character, is just seemed that it was one of those books that never interested me. That being said, what I found when I read this comic surprised me. Mike Mignola packs a LOT of humor in this story, and frankly, I really wasn’t expecting that. Again, I’m not familiar with the Hellboy character or universe, so I didn’t know what to expect, but it sure wasn’t this. As a character, Hellboy is very tongue in cheek and quite a wise-cracking badass. Unfortunately, I found the story a little hard to follow. This is obviously aimed at Hellboy fans, so I’m sure I missed a ton of “in jokes” and references to past stories, but that’s OK. It’s an entertaining read with a couple of really good, funny parts to the story.

| SDCC 2012: Hellboy Goes To Hell This DecemberWell, here we are once again at San Diego Comic-Con and we’ve got a big announcement for fans of Mike Mignola‘s Hellboy! Coming December 5, 2012 will be the next Hellboy mini-series, Hellboy in Hell. Not only is this the first new Hellboy story since 2011, but it also marks the return of Mignola to full art duties for the series. It has been a number of years since Mignola did more than the covers for a full Hellboy mini, with art being handled admirably by Duncan Fegredo since 2007’s ‘Darkness Calls’. It will be great to see another series from Mignola, since this is his baby and also since he is an amazing artist with a unique style that can’t be duplicated.
