Kristian Nairn and Isaac Hempstead-Wright as Hodor and Bran in Game of Thrones

According to Kristian Nairn, the actor who plays fan-favorite Hodor on HBO’s Game of Thrones, neither his character nor Bran Stark (played by Isaac Hempstead-Wright) will appear in season five of the show next year.

Click on over to the other side to read a quote from Nairn revealing the news, but be warned it could be considered semi-spoilery if you’re highly fearful of such things.

sdcc panel photos

While we were in San Diego covering Comic-Con, our hearty team of weather-worn GoDs cranked out more than 60 articles. We were given a personal tour of Crimson Peak by director Guillermo del Toro. We piloted a virtual Jaeger from Pacific Rim. We covered four straight days of film and television panels in Hall H. We published tons of really great comic book news, casting announcements, all manner of awesome reveals, and so much more!

I took so many photos during the Hall H panels I attended at SDCC, that I’ve been updating our panel coverage articles with galleries since Sunday afternoon. And I’ve only now just finished processing my final lot of panel photos.

Below are nearly 400 additional panel photos that were taken over the course of my four days in Hall H, including Kingsman: The Secret Service with Colin Firth; the EW Women Who Kick Ass panel; The Maze Runner, the newest film in the Hitman franchise Agent 47; Michael Mann’s Blackhat with Chris Helmsworth; Let’s Be Cops; the newest stop-motion masterpiece from Laika, The Box Trolls; Paris-sewer found-footage horror, As Above So Below; Salma Hayek’s ‘The Raid,’ Everly; and an animated film that was completely off my radar pre-SDCC, but which I am now extremely looking forward to, The Book of Life.

It’s cold and dark and depressing outside as many of us fight through the dead of winter, but excitement is starting to build in the land of television as Game of Thrones begins to take over once again. It started with the first trailers and behind-the-scenes special for season four. It continues with the release of season three on Blu-ray today. And officially hits its full stride on April 6th with the start of the new season, as the show looks to continue its dominance over others as the best on TV today. The warmth of the sun is not far off now. For us anyway; we know what’s coming for Westeros.

With one of the most shocking sequences of events in TV history setting the internet ablaze with reactions, memes aplenty, and much discussion, season three continued to set the bar extremely high and continued bringing new fans to the series with no signs of slowing down in sight.

The Awakening Movie Poster

The Awakening
DIRECTOR: Nick Murphy
WRITERS: Stephen Volk, Nick Murphy
STARRING: Rebecca Hall, Dominic West, Imelda Staunton, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Cal Macaninch, Shaun Dooley
BBC Films
RELEASE DATE: August 17, 2012 (limited)

As a lover of all types of horror movies, and especially of a good ghost story, I was excited to check out The Awakening, the new thriller from director Nick Murphy, who’s making his feature debut.

The movie follows Florence Cathcart (Rebecca Hall), a paranormal hoaxes author and true skeptic in a devastated post World War I England who’s firmly set on revealing the real cause of paranormal occurrences, whether they be scientific or man made trickery. Clearly battling some of her own demons, Florence is one day visited by Robert Mallory (Dominic West), who claims that there have been many sightings of a child ghost at the boarding school he teaches at. At first she shrugs him off, offering a simple explanation for his problem, but when he rebukes them all and clarifies that this isn’t about finding a ghost but calming the fears of the boys who attend the school, she decides to help.

Upon arriving Florence investigates around a bit and sets up her many complex tests, which leads to what appears to be a resolution. But when strange things continue to happen and she sees things she cannot explain, everything Florence has so strongly believed in will be tested.

I’ve made it no secret how much of a fan of HBO’s original programming and similar shows I am…to the point of it being difficult for me personally to even watch regular network/cable TV shows not named The Walking Dead anymore. Two of my favorite current shows are on HBO, one being Boardwalk Empire and the other being, big surprise and SPOILER ALERT: Game of Thrones.

And while it’s silly of me to give away my feelings on the first season of the series so early in my review, allow me to tell you why I’m so googly-eyed over this wonderful, wonderful world.
