| John Cena In Talks To Join James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’
James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad will be a soft reboot. Some of the cast from the original like Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller will return to reprise their respective roles. Others like Idris Elba will play new characters that were never before seen in a DCEU franchise. Now, Task Force X might be adding some more muscle to the group. Literally. According to new reports, John Cena is in talks to join the team. More on the report below.

| ‘The Suicide Squad’: Viola Davis Returning; Idris Elba Not Playing Deadshot
The fact that we are getting James Gunn films from both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DCEU is a gift. After the director was fired by Disney on their third Guardian of the Galaxy film – but before he was subsequently reinstated – Gunn was brought in to write and direct The Suicide Squad. The new film, which was considered to be a soft reboot at the time, is not loosely using the term, as characters and actors from David Ayer‘s original film are returning. Jai Courtney will be back to play Captain Boomerang, and now Viola Davis will return as Amanda Waller. However, Idris Elba, who was tapped to replace Will Smith as Deadshot, is no longer being considered for the role of the assassin with deadly accuracy. More on the report here below.

| ‘The Suicide Squad’ Brings Back Jai Courtney As Captain Boomerang
Before James Gunn can sail through space with the Guardians of the Galaxy for the third time, he’s going to be directing a different kind of misfits in the DC Extended Universe film The Suicide Squad. | David Ayer Admits He Should Have Done ‘Suicide Squad’ Differently
Suicide Squad may not be the most popular film amongst critics and some fans, but it was one of the top-grossing films of last year. Warner Bros. third entry of the DC Extended Universe was polarizing in more ways than one. The loyal fanbase supported the film even though critics eviscerated it for having too many plotholes and a lack of character motivation. But if there is one thing that Suicide Squad suffered from the most, it’s the fact that the marketing campaign failed to deliver its promise on giving us the Joker (Jared Leto). Sure the Clown Price of Crime was in the film, but trailers and TV spots had assured us he would be a vital plot point. Instead, he was an unnecessary factor. Even Leto voiced his displeasure saying that he shot enough footage for a Joker movie. The extended edition supports that fact.
